My personal favorite after the 1.0 Ultex
Benjamin I. 26.03.2019
After playing all the gauges I could find, the 0.60, 0.73, 0.88 and 1.0 my favorite is the 1.0, but without the others to compare I wouldn't know that. So even if the thinner picks are not for me anymore, I still recommend them, to experiment with different tones and textures.

I've found the thicker picks move faster, and make the strings sound crisper, even if the tone has more bass. That's because thin picks make the string sound like a rubber band while a hard one makes it sound like the metal that it is. The wood's tone is still there if the string height is neither to high nor too low.
The 0.88 still feels a little flexible to me, but much less than the 0.60 and 0.73. If the 1.0 wasn't there I would stick to the 0.88.
The quality is not questionable, all Ultex picks last very long and they grip well but after taking a hard look at my guitars' setup, I found the string's break angle needs to be such that the dull tone disappears, and the crispness of the steel begins to be heard without being brittle.

And so I don't want my picks to generate a mushy sound either, and that means playing the harder ones.

These work for anything you want them to. Guitar, bass, uke, picking stickers off the wall, anything.

These pics are not for me: too big, not easy to grab and play with, too hard, and yet they wore out after little use.
