Great studio/rehearsal amp
Janice 02.12.2017
This has been in use in my studio for about a year now and it's done very well. I've used it it playing with a full band (with electronic kit) for rehearsals and such, as well as when recording, and also I use it as a practice amp.

The amp is astonishingly light which is great if you need to move it or take it anywhere. (The postman, who plays guitar too, asked me what it was when it arrived - he said he saw Fender on the box so he thought it was an amp but it was too light so it couldn't be. I told him it was a bass amp and he didn't believe me at first! ) Nevertheless the cabinet is very solid, not at all flimsy and doesn't suffer from rattles, buzzes or other cabinet noises, even when it's turned up loud.

The amp will go quiet enough for "bedroom use" and loud enough without breakup to comfortably play along with a drum kit as long as the drummer isn't too hard hitting. it copes fine in a medium sized room playing along with electronic drum kit and a full band. It wouldn't have the power or headroom to work in a large room or with a loud band. Small low volume gigs would be ok and for that, it's small size and light weight would be a huge bonus.

A decent range of sounds are available and I was surprised at the amount of low end that would come out of a small, light cabinet with a small speaker. At sensible volumes the response is very even, but when it's turned up toward it's maximum volume things get a little less smooth. For high volume high gain kinda stuff you're probably going to want more power and tone shaping capabilities but for just about everything else you'd do on a 4 string bass this will get you into the general area and sound pretty good. With the deeper notes on a 5 string bass it copes well at moderate volume,

The line out socket is very useful and gives a workable sound for recording, it's a good option to have if you just want something quick Would be useful if playing live with a full PA system too.

All in all, a very handy and pretty decent sounding amp for home, rehearsal and studio use. No it's not an Ampeg SVT, but an SVT couldn't do the jobs this does!

Nice and light with great sound.
Dub77 06.09.2019
The new Fender rumble is advertised as a new lighter design.. they weren’t lying, its a fantastic amp. The rumble 40 is ideal for home practice or gigging small venues. Its not overly loud for home practice but does have a headphone jack to keep the neighbors happy.

Pros.. easy to carry, nice clear sound with easy to use controls. Design is nice to look at as a piece of furniture.

Cons.. can’t really think of any.. if you need more power, buy the 100,200 or 500.

Thomann were excellent as always.

R
Great, Great Amp and I love the sound and how easy it is to carry.
Ronsthebg 13.07.2021
I purchased the Fender Rumple to solve 2 issues with both rehearsal and live performances. First for rehearsal, the issue was our rehearsal location did not provide me with ample sound for my bass and the powered speakers I was using just didn't sound good for me. Second, live performances, When we play live, our sound guy just doesn't quit get BASS and Bass sound. Our setup required me to hear my bass through a monitor with a mix of vocals and a few instruments. the monitor are good quality but the bass again didn't sound good to me, plus the monitor setup with the other players and singers, seemed that there was an empty space in the overall sound. The Fender Rumble 40, split with a DI for the mixer and the Amp combination solved all of the issues for me. The Fender Rumble sound is full and amazing for such a small amp. I was very surprised over the quality and how light it is to carry. I use it 3 times a week and carry it to with me when I walk to rehearsal and to the church where I play every week. It is a perfect solution for a light weight but great sounding amp.

It is a great bass amp, it's portable, I like the aux port which i did not expect, the sound is great , the built quality is very nice, for a 40w amp it produces quite some noise which is surprising .
Definitely worth the money

I initially bought this amp for bass (naturally), but later realized that it sounds AMAZING also with my Yamaha CP4 stage piano. Mono of course, but who cares.

Home practice, rehearsals, tiny gigs – you get some decent bass tones out of it for all these purposes. Don't look further in this price range!

Aa
Great little amp
All about the Bass 07.07.2020
Incredibly light weight and very loud for an amp rated 40w. Works well for recording my double bass without the need for a DI box as well as amplifying my bass guitar. Tonally good with both instruments considering its size although, not surprisingly, it lacks a bit of depth at the bottom of the range compared with units with bigger speakers. Highly recommended.

Great value
TobiasFEsq 31.08.2020
This is a reasonably budget amp but for the money it's outstanding. It will never compete with hi-end bass amps, but it's not designed to.

I use it for recording bass lines and it is absolutely fine for that. I'd probably want a more powerful one for live use. I certainly wouldn't go smaller.

The overdrive is quite nice, and useful.

It's light and delivers a punchy sounds. Very pleased

G
Fantastic practice amp
Gringonick 06.12.2017
The range of sounds out of this amp is very good. Even with the eq set flat , the sound is tight and full, extremely musical. Slight adjustments make huge tone differences , and I only took one star off because of some scratch pots. If your deciding between this and the lower powered versions, bear in mind I never turn this up 9 o?clock position, but the tone shift buttons are invaluable.
