Excellent, warm and dry.
This is the best bass drum head on the market, and it is slightly warmer than the clear powerstroke 3, it is durable, gives a true sound from the bass drum, and feels thick enough to get a feeling from the pedal.
It doesn't have a ton of additional dampening on the head, so you are able to customise your bass drum sound in other ways that you see fit, whereas some heads will do it all for you, leaving you with no say in the matter.
This is best starting point, best head if you session and play more than one genre.

Great head
Great head with just the amount of muffling you want. Not killing the tone, but also controling it.

Huge open tones!
Bought this to put on my early 70's Gretsch SSb kit. Gives it a HUGE open sound! Absolutely love this head!

Remo Powerstroke 3 - Coated - Excellent
These have become a standard for me over the years.
When gigging they help cut through and define the Bass notes clearly.
Coupled witha Falam Slam Patch - they last a very long time and maintian the tone.
Helps cut unwanted Overtones in recording environments also.

The head for the rock sound
The best Remo kick drum head for a rockl/heavy metal sound. The Powerstroke gives a controlled sound - even with minimal muffling - with a good low end and a nice attack, especially with a wood beater. It's also surprisingly durable, though I do recommend using a reinforcement patch (e.g. Falam Slam) if you're using a double pedal and/or hard beaters.

Excellent sound and durability
I've used this skin over and over for years (I've tried other skins as well) and what I like the most is the durability and feel. It gives me the bounce I want and the sound I need. Perfect for metal drumming.

Great head
Best head for bassdruns, but be sure to use a falam slam fron remo where the beater hits the head. The one that comes with the head is shit, and without it, you'll brrak the head in a few months
