As I expected ... a basic, good instrument.
About one hour ago I received the package. Thanks for that.
The instrument is securely packed in a compact case. Two backstraps are provided, but I don't think I will use them - such a case can be easily hand-carried. Opening the case, the first thing I noticed was the lack of place for for example valve oil, or a mute, although on the outside there is a zipper with room for sheet music. The instrument comes in a kind of anti-tarnish bag, but I am not quite sure about the quality of anti-tarnishing it gives. That is something to find out in the future.
The flugelhorn has a nice black shine, quite something different than the usual thing. The colour is not entirely dark black, but it is rather a kind of black silver. Very special! A negative thing is that I noticed little spots on the valve caps - I don't know if it are marks in the metal itself, or only dirt spots - a good polish maybe? The overall appearance is basic, but sturdy. Good working springs and waterkeys.
Valve action is surprisingly good and fast. Compression is OK. Intonation is OK ; I mean as one could expect from a flugelhorn. I hope the third slide lever will hold it through time. Nice compressions 'pops'.
When I play the flugelhorn, it gives me the dark and mellow sound as I was looking for. The response is good, heavy blowing is not needed to get to the high notes.
Regarding the finishing details, it is not the samen quality of a top instrument, but as I should say: a good instrument in balance with a good (cheap) price!

Fantastic value
As a trombone player in a sextet I have to double sometimes - this is a well built and very affordable addition to my arsenal. Finish is immaculate (looks do matter on stage!). Case is good. Mouthpiece supplied is much too small for me, but that's always a personal preference. This was recommended to me by a top pro trombonist who preferred it to the VB Strad, at less than a tenth of the price. He was right.

Exceeded expectations!
This is my first flugelhorn after playing trumpet for years. After much research, I chose the Thomann (the price helped!). The order process was amazingly simple, with almost immediate factory support keeping me aware of my order and access to the Customer Centre for additional support. Delivery was within a week, arriving safely. Unwrapping, I was met with a beautifully finished instrument. The black has a depth to it, and the silver accents really pop. A few minor flaws, but only I will know they exist. The sound is what I hoped it would be. My wife says it sounds like velvet. I'm very happy with the horn and the whole experience. Thank you Thomann!

Great!
For the price you pay, it's indeed great. I had mine played by professionals, and although the wouldn't use it professionaly, they would recommend it to any beginner.

Great looks, great sound!
Striking design - the silver highlights really pop, and the black is almost a dark gunmetal and looks really smart if perhaps a little prone to fingerprints.
The intonation seems spot on, and the sound has that rich flugel depth.
Valves and trigger are very smooth and responsive, and the overall build quality is very good. You can tell it's not a £2000+ premium instrument, but equally it's not at all flimsy or basic. Very impressed!

Very Surprised!
Didn't expect to get such quality for such a low price.
It has a a slightly mushy tone on a few notes in the higher register and a few minor little "defects" in handwork details: perfectly acceptable for the price. Good playability and surprisingly clear, warm, round tone and precise pitch. And CHEAP! Been playing it everyday for months. Totally satisfied. Taking it into the recording studio next week.
