Audio-Technica AT-LP140XP Silver

EDIT: after one year the arm lift failed. The lifter dampening design is trash. Basically you have to add silicone oil yearly, it just leaks into the chassis by design.

Just installed this as a living room hifi player. It's a pretty good turntable! Most importantly there is no mechanical motor rumble, that was a problem with the previous gen 120 model. There is a VERY QUIET audible hum when the turntable is on, if you put your ear to the deck, but as far as I can tell it doesn't transfer into the needle and into the audio channel. I'm listening at a moderate level using Genelec 8030A:s and don't hear the hum between tracks. Put my ear to the speaker, no hum, just normal vinyl noise, when spinning and needle is on record. Anti-skate is there, seems a bit aggressive since it kept pulling the arm to the right despite set to zero, when I was calibrating the counterweight. Buttons and controls have a quality feel to them, except the power switch which is ... strange. Arm lifter is nice / ok. Sound quality-wise I have no complaints!

The only problem I can find so far is the platter wobble, which is about 2 mm. But I suppose that is normal for chinese manufacturing and to be expected nowadays. It's not audiophile level tolerance, or even up to 1970s hi-fi standards but it's good enough for casual listening. Don't expect to get a true spinning platter, it'll be about 2 mm out of whack or even more. Otherwise a very good effort from Audio-Technica!

Vorab: ich bin kein Profi! Seit Jahren sammle ich LPs und gebe Geld dafür aus. Einen neune Plattenspieler habe ich mir nie geleistet. Im Einsatz war ein Plattenspieler von Uuuuralt-Hifi Anlagen. Hat immer irgendwie funktioniert. Jetzt war mein altes Gerät defekt und ein Ersatz musste her. Und mit diesem Gerät bin ich sehr zufrieden. Formschöne und stabile Verarbeitung. Anschluss Tonabnehmer ist für mich sehr professionell. (Im Vergleich zu früher). Mitgelieferte Kabel sind sehr stabil. Die Reversfunktion nutze ich nicht, da ich nur "hören" möchte. Es ist halt kein halb- bzw. Vollautomatik. Das heißt, die Nadel muss ich bei Plattenende selbst zurücksetzen. Aber das ist voll ok für mich. (Deshalb 4 Sterne)
Beleuchtung ist ganz witzig, macht in der Gesamtbewertung aber nichts aus.
Direktantrieb habe ich vorher nicht gekannt. Finde ich super, wie das Gerät anläuft.
Einen eigenen Ein- Ausschalter hatte mein altes Gerät auch nicht. Habe ich mir immer gewünscht, da das Gerät sonst immer am Strom hängt. Also auch hier ein klarer Vorteil, obwohl es so ein einfaches Feature ist.
Letztendlich habe ich bezüglich der Kosten etwas überlegen müssen. Für ein reines Abspielgerät ist es schon etwas teuer. Aber nachdem ich es angeschlossen habe, und das erstmal die Nadel die Platte berührt hat, waren meine Bedenken vorbei. Hat sich voll gelohnt. Super klarer Sound. Schade, dass ich das Gerät nicht schon früher gekauft habe. Eine neue Nadel am alten Abspielgerät hätte aus meiner Sicht nicht diesen Effekt gehabt.

j'avais acheté cette platine parce quelle permet d'éviter le Larsen/feedback basse fréquence, mais voila, la qualité de fabrication laisse à désirer et ca se sent, le bras par exemple, dôté d'un mécanisme grossier, il dérive de plusieurs centimètres quand on le lève...

Quelques mois plus tard la platine s'est mis à tourner n'importe comment, ca a commencé par un espèce de vibrato... puis elle s'est mis à tourner à l'envers, puis même à l'arrèt le moteur envoyait des impulsions erratiques diverses... bref inutilisable.

Ca fait 2 mois que je l'ai renvoyé par le SAV , et j'ai toujours aucune nouvelle...
