Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 X

Suchte nach einem offenen Kopfhörer zum Musikhören und für's E-Drumming (für letzteres empfiehlt sich eine geschlossene Bauweise, aber die behagt mir nicht). Eigentlich hätte es der AKG K-701 werden sollen (ich mag dessen neutralen sauberen Klang), allerdings war ich am Drumkit nicht zufrieden, wenn's etwas lauter sein sollte (bei gleichzeitig tiefer Kickdrum zusammen mit Crash-Becken quittierte das der AKG mit einem deutlich hörbaren Kratzen). Der ATH-AD700X bringt auch hohe Dynamik sauber rüber. Beim Musik hören in ohrenfreundlicher Lautstärke schenkt er sich nichts mit dem AKG (ist aber ein ganzes Stück teurer).

Die offene Bügelkonstruktion ist m.E. nicht optimal, ich habe die beiden "Klappen" mit einem schmalen Stück Klettband verbunden, jetzt sitzt der (übrigens sehr leichte) Kopfhörer perfekt (auch beim Trommeln, wenn man sich doch etwas mehr bewegt).

Ein weiterer (aber m.E. vernachlässigbarer) Kritikpunkt ist das etwas "störrische" Kabel.

Ansonsten gibt's nichts zu mäkeln, für meine Anforderungen der oütimale Kopfhörer.

I bought these headphones a few years ago mainly for FPS gaming, and for that purpose they are great. The sound is clear and crisp, with good positional cues in games. Also, thanks to the high frequency response width, you won?t be missing out on those small quiet sound cues - provided your ears can pick them up.

My secondary use has been as monitors for recording guitar and vocals, and as far as open back headphones go, they get my approval. However, for studio usage I do prefer closed headphones for less distractions.

I was pleasantly surprised that there was barely any need to tweak the sound profile with an equalizer. The highs are clear and the mids are not mushy at all. However I do recommend boosting the lower bass frequencies (80-220 Hz) a few dBs for optimal sound balance. Then again, that?s just my personal preference as I prefer a slightly bassier sound.

As far as comfort goes; once you put them on, there?s almost no discomfort - except for the occasional slipping if there?s a lot of head-shaking involved. Most of the times I forget I?m even wearing a pair of headphones!

Final verdict:
A great pair of headphones for those in the market for open back headphones. I would recommend these nine-times-out-of-ten as a replacement for "high-end" gaming headphones.
TIP: Pair them with a mod-mic for a clean look and you?re set to play with the "pros".

Ich hatte zuerst die ATH AD 500 von Audio Technica, mit welchen ICh bis auf einige Kleinigkeiten recht zufrieden war.
Das Upgrade auf die 700X hat sich jerdoch trotzdem gelohnt.
Die Detailtreue der Wiedergabe sowie der für mich sehr angenehme Frequenzbereich, lassen alles sehr Natürlich klingen.
Einzige die etwas Straffer sitzende Position im Vergleich zum AD500 stört. Jedoch wird sich das nach einer Weile tragen wohl bessern, da erst einige Tage auf meinem Kopf :)
