These things are the real deal
I've recently come out of retirement after 6 years away from my drums and needed to reskin my Sonor Delites - 22, 12, 14, 16, including the kick drum reso head. When I was looking at rings for the kick drum port hole, I realised there isn't a whole lot of price difference between one of these and a pack of generic plastic rings, which are really only good for aesthetic purposes. I've always hated any kind of muffling or laundry pile in my kick drum and so I was eager to try the Kickport which I've read works better without any kind of internal dampening.
Installation was incredibly simple, easier to do than describe in writing if anything, and the chrome finish looks fantastic against a Remo Fyberskyn.
Sound wise...WOW.. it simply has to be heard to be believed. My kick has always been a beast, but the Kickport really adds to the low end thump. The sound is clear, focused, and, and well defined and still delivers fantastic results when mic'd up in studio conditions. I have yet to try it in a live environment with a mic, but I really can't wait for the day as I'm sure this thing will rock any venue around.

Works Every Time
I have had kick ports on three different drum kits now. On a 22x18, 16x16 and now a 22x14 and it has made such an impact on each kick drum. I went for the chrome kick port this time as I have an acrylic kit with chrome hoops on the bass drum, and they tie in together perfectly.
Installation can be a bit tricky, this time I had to remove the batter head in order to set the kick port in place. But it's worth the hassle once you get to hear the result.

Excellent Part Really Works
I've been quite sceptical that such a simple idea could make such a difference to the Bass Drum sound. After reading loads of reviews and seeing lots of drummers using them, I finally decided to buy one myself. What can I say, it works! I've installed mine in a DW Acrylic Series Bass Drum, I like a soft attack bass drum sound with lots of presence, bass, and decay. The Kickport has made a huge difference to the sound, I'll be buying more for my other kits.

Much nicer than the other colours
I use it in my 20" Sonor Vintage Kick Drum.
It blends in perfectly with the other chrome pieces on the kit.
It really pushes the low end 'thump' & 'oomf'.
Plenty big enough to fit a microphone through as well.

focused bass
It's very well made, easy to apply, it focuses the bass of the drum to be a bit more punchy.

Totally convinced by this
Heard a lot of stories about these, and was always rather sceptical, but have now installed one in my DW Acrylic Bass Drum. Wow! Great boost to the low end with a lot of warmth too. Love it.
Was a little scary cutting into the resonant skin to install it, but measure twice, take it really slow with a stanley knife, and no problems. Highly recommended.
