Took some time to get comfortable

The Lee Oskar Major Diatonic is an iconic harmonica. Many favor it because of its low price and clear, distinct sound. However, as it first arrived it felt kind of awkward to play. The reeds responded pretty slowly, the reeds felt very "stiff" and hard to play - it just wasn't one of those harmonicas that feels like it is just a natural extension of your breath. It was awkward to play, seemed to take a lot of breath (because of the slow response) and some of the high notes were very difficult to play. At that time I would have given this harmonica 2/5 overall. However, after many hours of playing, the stiffness started to ease up, and the harmonica got very responsive. And since then it has been great to play. The sound changed as well: and oh what a sound! Great for playing single notes; they come through with power, a raspy brightness, and just an overall great tone.

I normally play marine band products...you know...blues harps special 20s regular marine band...I evan have suzuki valved(awsome)...so here we are Lee Oskar...so far I do like the sound...plays smooth...like the fact that you can buy plates if you blow out a reed (it happens now and then) accompanies well with my style of play...I'm a blues guy...I'll do it all though...bottom line...so far so good...oh and it's a nice looking instrument...I mean as far as harmonicas go

I'm a solo artist (guitar and harmonica) and find this make of harmonica, while blowing "slightly downward" on a neck mounted support, always block up quickly, where Hohner will continue all night without problems.

OK, hand held, these harmonica's, Lee Oskars, do great, even though they sound thin compared to Hohner's.

I keep rotating round all 4 makes to keep up with any improvements, but they must sound good through my "voice mic" as 2 mic's is awkward and my neck is getting old for too much movement.

Great Harmonicas

Got a few of these harmonicas now and although they can be relatively pricey they play and sound fantastic. The tone is clear, sweet and true. They sound great whether you are a blues player, rock n roller or a pop/rock player. When I first started using them my brother asked me if I had been taking lessons, I hadn't, they just sound better than most of the other harmonicas I had been playing. They are also really well made, I believe that all the parts are replaceable and for the money you won't get a better sounding or playing harp.
