Perfect for mastering.
I have several headphones for mixing, including the Beyerdynamic DT 770 pro and the new Sennheiser HD 560s for picking out details in different frequencies, but when it is time to listen to the final master you need the truth, boosted frequencies is good for picking out details when mixing but it does not translate well to the outside world.
To my ears the Sennheiser HD 650 is still the best on the market in terms of giving you as many details as possible and still maintaining to deliver a neutral sound.

Super great headphones
I use the HD-650 as my main pair of headphones. My primary use of the headphones are movies and videos, but where they really excel is for music listening in my opinion.
They have very clear vocals and a lovely high-end. However they do lack a bit in the low-end.
Overall this is a great parir of headphones.
