J
Trusty P-sound with unfortunate quality problems
Jasqa 11.02.2021
I have used this as my main bass at home for 1,5 years now and here are my thoughts. First of all, the sound of this thing fits almost all my needs and there's really nothing to complain about that. I won't go too much in depth about the tone as it's basically very solid P-bass tone, and everything about the Yosemite pickups, greasebucket circuit etc. should be about personal preferences and for everyone to judge by themselves. Although I must say I'm very impressed with the pickups and electronics in terms of noise and hum; even the J-pickup is virtually noiseless when soloed.

But then the cons: when I received the instrument I noticed that fret ends weren't finished too well, although it wasn't anything that bothered me too much back then. But when winter came and room humidity decreased, I started to really notice fret ends popping out and being REALLY sharp. Even all my crappy Chinese guitars have had much better finished fret ends. So I basically had to file ALL the fret ends myself for the first time ever, which I wouldn't have expected from my first guitar over 1000€. But luckily the filing did the job.

Next thing that happened was one year after the purchase, when the tone knob suddenly started making scratchy noises and eventually stopped working completely. Once again, this was the first time ever I've had problems with electronics in any of my guitars and this being the most expensive I've owned. But luckily the other name for service is called Thomann, and they sent me cleaning solution for the electronics for free which solved the problem. But still a very strange problem on a new American Fender after one year of playing in home conditions and no gigging.

I hope these problems were just bad luck as I haven't seen other bad reviews about these things. And I wouldn't like to complain as everything else in terms of materials and finishing is top notch. But if I had to choose again, I would rather just by a cheap Squier or even HB and upgrade the pickups, electronics and maybe tuners myself to do the job with half the price.

Kuka kaipaa custom shopin tuotteita, kun näitä saa neljänneksen hinnalla? Ei moitittavaa.

Versatile P-bass
Stalko 19.09.2021
This bass came to me with a comfortable Deluxe gig bag. First of all, the quality if this instrument is fantastic! You can do jazz, blues, metall, punk-rock, absolutely everything - sounds is amazing, i fell in love! Yeah.. But, I would like to compare Performer with my Player Series P-bass and of course there are many differences. Performer has better metallic components such as pots, tuners, frets and less string's "buzz" like on a Player Series (E-string). Fret job is better also. Performer has matte finish. It looks so beautiful! Player has it a little bit sharper frets, but that's not a problem. What about the sound... For me, Player sounds warmer, but Performer more clearer, bassy and versatile. In general it hard to say which one of them is better. They are both sounds perfectly! So, I would say If you want MIA P-bass, take this one and you'll be happy! But if it doesn't matter to you Mexico or America - take Player P-bass and you also will not be dissapointed!
