It's high time that bass legend Geddy Lee gets his own signature model, and it is at first glance rather modest with no striking peculiarities: a jazz bass almost off the shelf, if it were not for the combination of selected parts from Geddy's favourite basses. For example, the neck that corresponds to that of a 70s model.

A robust unobtrusive grafter that has exactly the power needed to once again prove that one jazz bass is easily suitable for different sounds and playing techniques

Everything I need/want..

Years ago I had the CIJ version of this bass, and I have to say, that moving the manufacturing in Mexico wasn't that bad move. Sure there's some minor alterations made to the new MIM version(different bridge, one less screw in the pick guard(not a flaw, but still), and slightly thicker neck profile(maybe a mm or two?).. So @first I ordered AmStdPBass, that was a total dog, and had to be sent back. I played it for a few days, but couldn't get the feel or the tone I was looking for.. So after thinking about it, I decided to go for the Geddy, 'cause I was familiar with it, and because of the neck(like everybody else..), I've messed up my left index finger, so I need something that's easy and light to play..
Also I saved over 600euros, and I got the bass that'll stay with me 'till the end of days.. Switched the crappy strings to TI-Flats, set the intonation for my standard D tuning, and that was it. Gigbag is okay I guess, but will get something better, if I start to gig again.. Been playing almost 25years, and this is THE BASS for me. Well maybe 1/4pounder mic swap @ some point, and the tuners, but all in all, everything works just as Jazzbass should.. Haven't played better American made bass ever, or any other bass, for what it's worth.

Ihan ok, ei mitään mullistavaa soundia,
mutta kelpaa kyllä soitella vaikka keikalla. Työnjälki erinomaista.

Fender Geddy Lee - amazing bass!

I went through a lot of basses before trying the Geddy Lee.
I love the 70's styling and the traditional jazz bass look and sound but wanted something a little different - as a rush fan this made sense but I would normally like to try before buying - I shouldn't have worried - it arrived quickly and well packed and looks amazing!
The sound is very nice with a thick sold bass tone and a bit of growl that helps it cut through a busy band mix nicely. I've gigged it with several types of band (from 60's thourgh to modern hard rock) and it has always sounded perfect for what I need.

The big advantage to me is the shape of the neck - it is a little slimmer than any of the other jazz basses I've owned so it feels a lot more comfortable to my hands and makes it less tiring to use during longer gigs.

I can't imagine ever replacing it - apart from to get another one! Fantastic!

This is a really good bass in an afordable budget. Excellent JB with good handling et easy to slap. The sound is pretty nice but could be better with a couple of Delano's or Seymour's.
