One of the best Marshall low-price-range tube heads at the moment!!!!

This tube head was my first in this category and actually the very first in general, I have never owned a tube head before... Price range is fantastic and you can get a very versatile and good head for this price! 2 channels, digital good reverb and original Marshall sound! The stock tubes might be little "mid-range" so you could consider changing them with TAD set for this model or at least the power EL34s and maybe at least V1 and V2. The stock tubes are little confusing because it doesn?t say which mark or model they are, the V1 and the V3 are probably the same (JJ ECC83?s?!?) and the V2 is "gold plated" (maybe JJ ECCxx something...) but not really any gold pins etc. I think they are chinese brand.
There could be some noise/fizz issues because of the stock tubes so I really recommend changing them if you encounter something like this.
The clean channel is quite ok but it lacks bass and tightness, 2nd channel is awesome and you can dial ACDC to Grunge/speed metal tones easily! I really like the resonance and presence knobs in the EQ and the tone shift knob is also very recommendable.
I think the reverb is ok and the connections at back are very well made and the extension speakers info is really good. I haven?t tested the effects loop which is switchable via footswitch. Reverb isn?t on/off in the foot pedal. There is quite clear difference in 10w and 20w mode so you can crank this baby up in 10w mode in clean if you use right kind of tubes (V1) that distort earlier. Experiment!!! Nice amp in all and very affordable. The extension speaker cabinets that I have tested are only Yamaha THRC212 but Marshall 2x12" and 4x12" own could be killer.....!

It's a Marshall tube head!

For the price, this might be the best Marshall tube head you can get.

The amp is pretty much a jack of all trades, yet absolute master of none. The presence and resonance controls really help out getting many different yet Marshall like sounds out of the amp. The controls seem quite active, so little adjustment can make a big difference.

DSL20HR really excels in 70s and 80s rock sounds, and has more gain on tap anyone will probably ever need. For the real chug, you will still need an overdrive pedal to tighten the amp sound.

For the technically inclined, the 10W/20W of dual EL34s is achieved with lower plate voltages. The power amp is also cathode biased, so power tubes can be switched without needing a rebias.

Todella hyvä ääninen vahvistin. Syy että tähti tippui ominaisuuksista on se että kun käyttää f/x loop:ia niin äänen voimakkuus pitää säätää loopin puolelta erikseen. MUTTA, voihan se hyvikin olla että en ole perehtynyt laitteen toimintoihin riittävästi.

Perfect first afforfable Marshall tube amp!

Positive:
- Classic Marshall sound!
- Footswitch (1. Classic gain / Ultra Gain + 2. FX loop)
- Really loud. Even when played in 5W mode with a 4x12 cabinet. You won't need anything bigger that this for live or rehersals.
- Full size tubes power amp tubes.
- Reverb

Negative:
- The scoop button is not my cup of tea. It takes all the mids out.
- It would have been nice with separate EQ's for the two channels. But for this price, it's totally acceptable. It works.
