Just OK or great - depending on the use
I do weekend gigging, needed a synth for pads/leads/brasses/strings/organs. I don't use arpeggiator/sequencer/guitars/bass so can't comment on those.
Juno-DS is very light but the built quality seems excellent. I find the feel of the keys to be great! Controls for live situation are good. Editing options are abundant for the price, but the manual doesn't help with that.
Several sounds are quite good. The bell/pad, synth and brass categories have many usable sounds.
However, the organs are HORRIBLE. Most of the patches are very bad and leslie simulation is ridiculous (like a fast vibrato).
String sounds are usable but quite flat and uninspiring.
However you can download expansion sounds from Axial-website and get nice organs (Keys expansion) and great vivid strings (Strings expansion). BUT you can only have one expansion loaded at a time.
I was disappointed that the use of the vocoder is limited for specifed mode only and you cant use it with f.ex. a split you've created.
The Juno-DS is best for those who record at home. You can load the Axial soundbank you need and then switch.
Overall it's a nice keyboard. Five stars for home studio use with Axial banks. Three stars for live use.
