PAF in a single coil format
starboard 23.09.2017
Does what it says. My Stratocaster just became my number one guitar. Sure it is not a real PAF and yet not a true single coil when split either, but I rarely used the bridge single coil on my strat anyway. If I had to have only one guitar I would sell my Gibson Les Paul, as the Strat just got so perfect with these in the bridge.

Finally!

I've tried to like Strats all my life. I really have. I like the neck sound, but I just can't get the bridge pickup to sound anything else than harsh and brittle, especially with distortion. Tried so many times, but it just doesn't work for me. So I keep selling my Strats and then after a few years I get the urge and simply have to get one again...

I thought getting some hum-free single coils would help, and it sure did remove the most annoying part about single-coils (the hum), but I still couldn't get me to *really* like that single-coil tone.

So, I finally gave up on the single-coil bridge sound and got this single-coil sized P.A.F-type sound. Finally! This sound really works for me. It doesn't make the Strat sound like a Les Paul; the Strat sound is still there with a hint of twang. The "soul" of the Strat is not lost.

So I really dig this pickup. Now I'll just have to try to keep myself from wanting to find out what all those other single-coil sized humbuckers sound like...

The model name, as often happens with single coil-sized humbucker, is misleading. This sounds thinner than the full sized 59 and not as warm. Not the tone I was looking for but the product per se is not bad at all: it's very well build as per SD standards.

I tried several pickups in my fender stratocaster. As every strat player probably already knows, the bridge position is always a little bit problematic. You often get a realy harsh and really tone. Especially when playing in higher frets it can actually hurt your ears. This also makes playing harder rock music on a fender stratocaster problematic.
With this pickup you get the best rock tone for a strat possible in my honest opinion. It has a lot of output and creates a smoothly distorted tone. Even when playing solos in higher frets the sound has enough depth to not hurt your ears.
I would recommend this pickup to everyone who has a strat and wants a nice distorted rock tone.
