Beautiful sound, too many bugs

Good parts:
- Beautifully gritty lo-fi sound
- Automation recording for parameters
- Nice little features and effects for jamming
- Compact size

Minor issues:
- Uploading your own kit is done over a clumsy app. You must set the sample markers for parts using a coarse UI with no zoom, meaning that you will need to send the kit several times before you get it right.
- Having to select the part by rotating a knob is cumbersome.
- The synth part is underwhelming and atonal, but then again, this is the case with most compact drum machines.

Major issues:
- All pitch and decay settings are forgotten when powering off, meaning you have to retune your kit every time you turn on the device. The manual says you should allow some time for auto-save after stopping the sequencer, but this seems to have no effect. Not sure if it's a bug or a feature.
- The shift button sometimes gets stuck in "on" mode (in software) after releasing it.
- Using the shift for global effects occasionally hangs the device, forcing a restart (and another retuning).

Showstoppers:
- It does not properly sync to MIDI. Everytime I tried syncing it to my RME, it played 1-2 bars in a jittery fashion and then stopped.

Conclusion: All tests were done with the latest firmware. I could live with other bugs because of the sound, but if I can't even play the thing with other gear, I have no choice but to return it.

Was für eine super flexible kleine Kiste!

Also ich bin begeistert, was die Ein-Mann-Firma Alex da in diese kleine Kiste gepackt hat!
Durch das verwenden von eigenen Drumsamples ist die Kiste super flexibel und die Bedienung funktioniert sehr simpel und größtenteils sogar intuitiv.
Bei Fragen und Problemen hilft Alex einem weiter und für ein handgefertigtes Produkt in dieser Kompaktheit finde ich auch den Preis durchaus angemessen.
Es kommt natürlich immer darauf an was man sucht aber wenn man einen sehr kleinen low-fi drumcomputer will, der ohne die Notwendigkeit von weiterem Equipment direkt zum jammen einlädt, ist hier meiner Meinung nach sehr gut bedient.
Ich nutze den Deton8 zusammen mit einem Drone-Synthesizer als Grundlage um parallel Gitarrenloops drüber laufen zu lassen und in dieser Funktion werde ich sicher noch lange mit dem Deton8 Spaß haben!

leider enttäuscht!

die idee ist toll und die verarbeitung / haptik ist äusserlich gut.
leider stürzt der sample editor für mac unter 10.11.6 regelmässig ab und verursacht dann ganz brutale knackser, die einem problemlos jeden studiomonitor durchblasen.
die sample slices / startpunkte werden nicht richtig an den deton8 übertragen. der support des herstellers rührt sich nicht - schade!

A lot of features in small box.

Very cool box. You can create a lot of interesting beats.
Sync by midi works perfect, only one thing what could be better - menu diving is complicated and it's hard to quick jump to parameters of other samples.
Worth to buy.
