Good dark sounding stack

I bought this stack just to play small accents from time to time, and I mounted it on a normal cymbal stand boom arm and a clamp to my hihat. The bottom cymbal is very thin (not the usual 12" splash thin) the top is slightly thicker, both have a unique sound on their own, together they sound best. The chick it produces is nice and dark yet it still cuts and is fairly loud. As to the hihat I am a bit more skeptical, as the thin bottom makes for the hihat rebound to be very poor, meaning any blazing fast 16th,32th note accents will not be possible and I do not recommend bashing it either. For certain studio situations yes, as a substitute 12" hihat just forget it.

Overall a good cymbal if you know what you are looking for, sounds very simmilar to online sound demos.

Very happy I got these, great unique character, punchy with short decay - just what I wanted and needed. The perforated one sounds so good on its own I'm going to get the 14" Splatter crash as well now to compliment I like them so much. I'm using them with a Zildian K series medium/thin dark crash and some other Byzance stuff and it compliments perfectly.

Splatter beschreibt den Stack am besten. Ist also erstmal drinn, was auch drauf steht. Wer also gerne krach macht oder Chaos in der Bandprobe stiften will, ist hiermit sehr gut beraten. Vor allem ist der "Staxx" nähmlich laut und klingt aggresive und ist daher nur situativ einsätzbar. Für Punk und Metal ist es echt gut. Ich persönlich habe meinen Spaß daran und benutze den "Staxx" ähnlich, wie ein China in vergleichbarer Größe, also für Akzente und dann, wenn es besonders wild klingen soll. Auf dauer werde ich wohl aber doch auf ein kleines China oder einen anderen kleinen Stack zurückgreifen.
Für ruigere Gangarten ist es absolut garnicht zu empfehlen.

P.S.: Thema HiHat: ja rein technisch gesehen funktioniert das schon, aber ich finde den Sound bei Stickanschlag äußerst unangenehm für eine HiHat. Im Gegenteil dazu ist der Click beim reinen mit-dem-Fuß-spielen sehr cool.

Sehr toller Stack

Von allen Becken der Dark Matter Serie gefällt mir der Stack am Besten.
Klingt meiner Meinung nach ziemlich perfekt.
Auch einzeln klingen die Becken sehr geil!
Ich bin schon am Überlegen einen zweiten zu holen und die Bechen einzeln als Splashes einzusetzen.
Ist natürlich subjektiv, aber ich bin total happy mit dem Teil!
