A worthy addition to your board!
The Tone Lounge 01.01.2021
I test a lot of pedals on my YouTube channel, and this one was highly requested. I've always associated BOSS with a brand that everyone has on their board at some point. I've owned a few, and although never exceptional they are always great.

I bought the BD-2 without having much expectations. I plugged it in and was hit with a fantastic tone, although very bright. Now the brightness can be controlled and it isn't a bad thing. It's not ice picky, just a bit brighter than I expected. I keep the tone knob at around 9 o'clock to keep everything balanced.

I own some expensive, rare and boutique pedals, and this thing keeps up with all of them. So much so, in fact, that I am contemplating getting rid of some of my pedals and keeping this one as my "transparent" OD.

Tested with:
- Vox AC15C1
- Vox AC4
- 1966 Gibson GA-15RVT

Works very well
Jamez999 01.02.2020
Bought this for a bit more tone from my Epiphone SG and it works very well with everything set to about a third. It's actually quite versatile and will give you more overdrive if you increase the knob settings. Works fine inline with other pedals too. Comes with a battery but can be used with a 9v transformer which I do. Only thing is, if you use a transformer and there is a battery installed it can behave unpredictably so use one or the other but not both. Pedal is well made and easy to use. Recommended.

If it aint blues, drive on.
SeanD 01.06.2013
The blues driver has been the center of my sound for over ten years now, and after ten years of absolute murder and abuse, being chucked in and out of bags, dropped and thrown on floors, jumped and stamped on(in the heat of the moment you do these things), and even drowned in various liquids, i had to finally buy a new one. Now, it still works, but there's a tiny rattle in it; so she's being put out to pasture when it comes to recording, but for rehearsing, she'll always have a place on my board .
My new blues driver sounds great, as i knew it would, and performs great. I'm looking forward to another ten years of mayhem with my new blues driver.

Awesome cheap blues pedal
TheGausdal 11.02.2022
This pedal was something I bought to start out with, but has ended up being on mye pedal board for years!

Ive used it for both a lead sound and rhythm, and the pedal can handle both pretty well.

10/10 recommend for a budget pedal!!

Classic Tone

If you're looking at the BD2 you already know what it sounds like.

My only recommendation would be that if your amp lacks mids or is very mid focused then consider a more mid heavy pedal like a tube screamer. I put the BD2 in front of my VOX AC15 and it is often difficult to get a mid-heavy sound. Can be done with some tweaking but it is not the best solution that I have to tweak the amp for this one pedal.

BD-2 only OK
themager 19.04.2015
I find the decay is unnatural - breaks up like a crackling broken speaker - so on long sustaining notes its a bit harsh. As a low gain boost its OK, but I still find it sounds brittle going into a clean sounding amp. I only use it now running a mooer juicer in front of it and it really helps to warm it up. Sounds better with single coils than humbuckers in my opinion.

My favourite distortion
Anonymous 20.03.2015
This is definately the most versatile distortion I have owned. I don't play heavy songs and tend to use it mainly for lead work. I also use this on my acoustic board and I think it's even better there! Other distortions sound off with the acoustic but the BD-2 is actually quite complimentary. I tend to leave the tone knob in the same spot, about 10 o'clock or so, but there is a good range of sounds that can be achieved with those three knobs.
My BD-2 has recently kicked the bucket due to a psu failure and I will definately be buying another.
Build quality is excellent and as usual from Thomann, price can't be beat!

Thomann service is second to none. BD2 is a classic for a reason, just the perfect touch responsive low gain OD pedal and its built like a tank.

Versatile pedal in typical Boss quality
GeoRater 02.01.2024
An incredibly versatile overdrive with enough gain on tap to achieve a range of tones.

The pedal is well built, looks great, and is easy to use. Works well for both heavier tones, and also as an always on bit of 'bite' which sounds amazing on a clean channel.

Definitely lives up to the reputation, and wish I had added it to my board sooner.
