Ugly O-D Glove Does All.
GullieGumdrops 19.09.2015
My friend stumbled upon the OD glove from Electro Harmonix and I was pretty impressed from what I'd heard and for such a decent price that I ordered one straight away. Fast arrival and excellent customer service as always from Thomann.

Before I plugged it in I was a little deflated at the artwork. Electro Harmonix need to start paying for some better artists, their latest series of pedals have the most unattractive designs, nothing up to the standard of their stylish and thematic silk screened boxes of old.

The pedal somewhat justified itself somewhat when it was plugged in. I've owned a few drive pedals before and what stood out for me with the Glove was its responsiveness to my playing dynamic. Without twisting a knob I could get warm cleans that turned into thick distortion just with my playing style. This meant I could replace all my various levels of overdrive and distortion and just use the one pedal if I so wished.

The sound of the pedal itself was pretty neat. It's a chunky drive, some fuzzy sorts of sounds with the gain after about 3o'clock. Thick and compressed but the clarity of each string certainly comes through. It gives a really rich and warm element to the tone, not an annoying fizz that is so many distortions, certainly at this price range. The only place I noticed it really fell down was when I recently upgraded to a tube amp and speaker cab, and discovered that it really sucked a lot of low and high end out of the signal, and the change in tone was quite dramatic. For the most part, nobody would ever hear/ notice/ care besides you. I would say that the glove is an excellent small tool that will add a lot of little flavours to your sound. Its versatility is well worth the price and the quality, while not outstanding, certainly beats a lot of distortions worth a lot more that are on the market. It will also last you I threw it against my wall when I was angry and it's still working same as ever, so...

It is OCD tone
Sergei V. 04.01.2021
It has OCD tone, but the price is much more attractive. What I like about such type of tone, is that you set up your amp for crystal clean tone, you can keep your bright switch on, if you have one (I use it with AMT Bricks F-Clean with bright on), and then you just put everything at noon on pedal and engage it and immediately have a great thick tone to start with. With many other pedals you have to tweak your amp and sacrifice clean tones to make pedal sound great, but this pedals pairs perfectly with fenderish glassy cleans.
Here is a small example from me with gain and volume just at 9 o clock, tone at 12:

Da bomb

Great OD, altogether. Sounds a lot like the v.2 of Fulltone's OCD, but costs less than half. Can get wild, especially when stacking a transparent OD before it, but keep in mind it's an OD, so no modern midscoops here. One of these pedals that you buy for a backup or just an alternative option and ends up being a key pedal on the board.
This is a solid electrical device, the components are of really high quality and it's really well-built. EHX has real engineers. The stomp could be a bit softer.
Super pedal.

Cheap and excellent
elwoodblues 18.03.2017
The best value for money dist/od pedal I've ever seen (heard and played). The sound is smooth and firm, better than many much more expensive pedals can offer. I don't know if it would be considered by Thomann correct to name some, so I will not.
Besides - the taste differs. The only thing that bothers me is the location of the little tone switch. If you want it to be in "off" position, you may switch it on unwillingly when switching on/off the pedal. It happens to me all the time.

I find this pedal very useful.
NoelBourke 14.08.2015
I've used my amp distortion (Rivera M60 combo) for ages, and this was the first pedal that I heard and thought "Yeah, that'll do!".

The gain range is good, and there's plenty of volume available. I've used it with two guitars, a strat and a les paul, and though I find both work fine, it would be nice to be able to get more gain from the strat. It goes high alright, but higher would be good. I run a booster into it, which works very well.

I haven't used the internal control for the voltage supply.

The tone knob covers a useful range, and I find I can get a bunch of useful sounds out of it.

I like the tone shift switch as well, though I find it a bit frustrating that there's such a level jump when it's engaged, I'd prefer to be able to switch it on and off without having to reset the volume control.

All in all a nice pedal!

A bit disappointed OD
At0mic 13.07.2018
Honestly this OD kind of missed my expectations in both terms of sound quality and build quality. Might be just my case but i was disappointed with muddy sound in almost all settings. Might be as well that it didn't fit well with vox AC30hw2. I swapped it with DOD glass overdrive and it was night and day difference. But this is very subjective thing.

Another thing is that footswitch behave strangely since beginning, sometimes when turning effect off it would stop signal completely which is not really convenient when gigging.

All in all, i would probably recommend looking elsewhere.

One of the best OD out there
Anonymous 01.05.2016
Well, this pedal sits on my guitar pedalboard since the day it arrived.
It's Mosfet, it can go from clean to just a hint of saturation to white heat sound.
It has a switch to boost the mids, and an internal switch for 9v/18v operation which is a very welcome plus.

If I'd have to put in words how it sounds like, I'd say "Marshall-y"; its distortion is pleasant and creamy, while never harsh.
It's pretty solid and has a pretty good construction quality overall.
It's just one of those great buy which really is a no brainer.
Cheers.
