Ich bin auf die beschichteten Elixir Saiten gestoßen, da mein Ibanez Bass diese ab Werk aufgezogen hatte. Klanglich wirklich tolle Saiten. Die Beschichtung macht sie etwas geschmeidiger im Anschlag, was den Fingern zu gute kommt;)

Dennoch gibt es keine Klangeinbusen. Durch die Beschichtung halten die Saiten extrem lang (jedenfalls Klanglich) wo bei diversen anderen unbeschichten Saiten nach einem Monat täglich 1 Stunde spielen kein klares Klangbild mehr vorhanden ist, kann man bei diesen Saiten noch gut und gerne mehr als 3 Monate spielen, falls sie nicht reisen. Das ist mir jetzt innerhalb eines Monates mit zwei 3 Monate alten Saiten passiert.

Das ist sehr ärgerlich, da die Saiten wirklich ein haufen Geld kosten. Allerdings kann es auch sein, dass ich wohl einen qualitativ schlechteren Satz erwischt habe, der vorherige hat ein dreiviertel Jahr gehalten.

Im Großen und Ganzen ziemlich teure, aber dennoch wirklich preiswerte Saiten.

I bought this as a spare E string to a set of Elixirs that I already owned. (In my experience, it is almost always the E string that has the shortest life time.)

After a while, I have realized that I do not like the Elixirs at all. The tone is sort of dead, even compared to my regular D'addario nickel rounds and I do not like the stiff and slippery feeling.

They also affect the sustain and "dead spots" a lot. My Precision bass has great tone and is very resonant, but with these strings it suddenly "died" and had short sustain and sounded generally "muddy".

It is also worth noting that you can get additional buzz and hum with these strings (I got), since they do not conduct electricity on the surface, so the grounding of your instrument will be affected.

However, there was nothing WRONG with the string, it is just not a product I like a lot.

Mir war der Sound dieser Saite viel zu dumpf. Habe die Saite aufgezogen, angespielt und gleich wieder abgemacht. Gut, dass ich keinen ganzen Satz, sondern eine einzige Saite zum Ausprobieren bestellt habe. Die Verarbeitung war gut, aber klanglich nicht mein Fall.

Der Sound dieser Saite ist gut. Beachten muss man jedoch bei der Through-Body-Nutzung, dass die Saite etwas zu kurz gewickelt sein könnte. Bei meinem Bass (Hagstrom Fxb520) endet der dick umgewickelte Bereich genau vor dem Sattel. Die Folge ist, dass die Saite sich dort einhackt und kann sich reißen (was bei mir auch passierte).
