For a long time I was considering buying a Gibson Les Paul Standard, but in the end I couldn't justify the 2K plus price tag. I'm a longtime Strat player but have always had this thing about owning a ''proper les Paul'' Some of my favourite players play these guitars (Slash, Jimmy Page etc) and for me these are the ultimate rock guitar. I just love the tone these guitars are capable of producing.

After a long time of considering some other Epiphone's I'm so glad I picked this one up. For me its a superb guitar for the price. The build is solid, don't let the ''made in China'' on the headstock put you off. The finish is flawless, no imperfections such as scratches, loose input jack, toggle switches etc. The fretboard was immaculate.

What really sold this guitar to me was that is was made in collaboration with the Gibson Custom shop, and is fitted with two genuine Gibson Burst-buckers 2 and 3 - they sound superb and are very versatile . The neck is fat, much bigger than I'm used to, but the playability is very good, and for me its a nice variation I can switch between.

For me this is the closest thing to owning a genuine Gibson you will find. I really can't see any cons with this guitar so far, but I guess time will tell. The hardshell case it comes with is good.
I'd definitely recommend this guitar and picking one up.

(I will edit this post in due course if the need arises)

A happy Thomann customer.

do not hesitate, just buy it.

I am a guitar player for 25 jears. Finally there is a payable alternative for
a nice Gibson Les Paul guitar that does not suck.
It still cost some money but you get some nice things in return. Real Gibson burstbuckers, the 50's wiring and the nice switch.
There also is a graph tech Nubone nut.
Finally i got "that" tone. From Slash to Eric Clapton and Gary Moore.
I never found it in an other guitar.
Some negative points:
I will change the tuners to locking tuners because they aren't that nice.
One the pickguard there is a small burr, easy removable if you know what you are doing.
Also do not forget to buy a extra wide and comfy guitar strap because this guitar is F'ing heavy.
Positive:
It is affordable.
It is beautiful.
Out of the box the action and intonation was ok.
The guitar has "that" sound.
you can easily do the Gary Moore eternal sustain thing.
The feel and playability are superb.
Nice fretwork, no sharp edges and not a single buzzing fret.
I cannot imagine that a "real" Gibson is much better.

I love this guitar, even before the mod.
Do not hesitate, just buy it. You will be happy, I know I am.

3/5

I ordered this guitar after all the positive reviews I saw here and watched on Youtube, but today I plugged the guitar in and.. the middle position and neck pickups have 0 output - literally silent. The bridge works, but that's it. The guitar itself physically looks well put together, the case is great, but clearly nobody plugged it in before they put it in the box to see if all the electronics work or not. I now have to spend my money on bringing it to be looked at by a pro, cause who knows what the problem is. It's disappointing for a new ELECTRIC guitar to not actually have the ELECTRIC part proper, but I guess mass-production will have this effect on things. Anyways.. EVERYTHING else besides this about it IS great - hopefully mine was the rare specimen and won't be too expensive to get working again.

Don't listen to the wingers.

I've owned Gibson les Paul's going back to 1979. They all sounded great but every one had awful quality control. The Epiphone guitar is beautifully finished. Frets and binding is spot on. The flame is deep and perfectly book matched. The finish is great. The 50's wiring works the way it should the pickups sound great as they should. The case is better than the the Canadian one I had for my Gibson and is not far off the older cases I've had. I bought it because I'm done with Gibson and its awful quality control. The neck is as advertised and one of the most comfortable I've played.

Good but nothing special.

The setup out of the box was OK, but not good. The jack socket was very stiff. Could not insert the jack. The case is made cheap and it included only one key, no spare. The neck is chunky. It is a nice mat finish and overall it is a good guitar though, but not very impressive. It arrived with a broken switch, unfortunately. :-(
Epiphone still has a plenty of room for improvement, I think. Limited edition clearly does not mean for them a better quality comparing to other models. Actually my 2 year old Standard Pro seems to be finished better than this one. Good product but nothing special.
Edit: When was changing stings for the first time I found that one saddle screw was broken already. Poor quality "Inspected by Gibson".

An impressive guitar for a reasonable price
svenakos 20.05.2021
This is a very nice guitar, with solid construction and finish. It's a bit on the heavy side, as is to be expected for a Les Paul, has good sustain, usable tuners, a nice chunky neck, and sounds good unplugged.
Setup out of the box was a bit dodgy, there was some rattling and intonation was off, but nothing that a bit of work couldn't fix.
The included case is nice but not great; careful: the inside is relentlessly pink.

Now for the absolute stars of the show: the Burstbucker pickups.
I know this is a matter of taste, but these are the best pickups I've ever heard in any guitar. I was expecting much, but was still pleasantly surprised. Sound is full and detailed, they are very responsive to playing dynamics, and overall just really, really take this guitar to another level.

Overall, if you are considering this guitar and are aware that it's a fifties style, chunky, heavy guitar for players with large hands and strong backs, then by all means get it, now. It's great.

Epiphone 1959 LP Standard Outfit ADB - playable out of the box
Old_Pierre 26.11.2022
Such a nice instrument, I would put it side by side with Gibson studio models an over traditional models.
Everything was as it should be right out of box.
Tuned and playable instrument, it sounded better then I expected.

This guitar is a excellent guitar for the money well worth it
one or two little flaws but I can live with it seen a lot worse
on more expensive guitars it is a keeper so if you do manage
to play one you will know what I am saying the neck on the guitar
is amazing to play and sounds really good with all the Gibson electrics
the only down side to this is that if you live in the UK there will be import charges of at least 150.00 for this guitar on top of the sale price
so keep that in mind before you buy do some research first that applys
to anything you buy now from any EU Country

There is a plethora of tones from this guitar, It has had a full set up and I changed the bridge and tailpiece for a titanium set which opened up the overall tone imho .
I'm very happy with this guitar it's a keeper .

Great sound at a reasonable price
PersaV 22.02.2024
The guitar sounds amazing. It is making every amp I’ve plugged into sound memorable.

The playability of the guitar is good, it comes with a decent setup, but for my taste I needed to lower the action a bit. The factory strings are ok, but would definitely upgrade as soon as possible.

I gave the 4 star quality rating because after one week of usage the 3 way switch started making squeaky noises. It got solved using some contact cleaner spray on it, but definitely something not expected from a brand new guitar.
