Great Saddle Blank
visionete 15.08.2017
I was having difficulty finding a suitably compensated saddle for my Washburn acoustic, so I carved my own from this bone blank.

I've worked with a lot of materials over the years, but never bone before. I found it very easy to work and very consistent.

This guitar was bright to begin with, but the clarity of tone is now noticeably improved. There is a focused "zing", more defined character, and palm mutes sound more percussive. Comparing different string sets, the character of the alloy comes across very clearly.

Strings stretch across the new saddle without wearing notches into it and without friction.

The intonation is now fixed at the bridge end, so overall I'm very satisfied.

T
Top quality bone, easy to work with
TrEr 07.06.2021
I've purchased this product on several occasions. This is very good quality bone. Not brittle like some of the stuff out there (particularly the bleached stuff). Very easy to work with and I've always gotten excellent results. It's also cheaper than buying from certain luthier's stores.

Highly recommended!

BI
Matches the bridge inlay in tone and color
Benjamin I. 04.10.2015
I had already put a bone bridge inlay on my Cort Earth. I added this bone nut, and the improvement is not as dramatic as with the bridge inlay, but it's also worth doing. The bone is yellow like dry wheat; the color matches the woods' colors much better than the former gray plastic inlay and nut.

Göldo Vintage Bone Nut
KimH 13.05.2015
well what can i say but wow for the price this is good quality bone, with a lovley colour suited to vintage guitars.

It is big enough to make a couple of nuts, with a bit of care cutting it. the bone has a lovely crystal like ping that sounds as if even lookin at it would break it, but it is actully rock hard as a good bone nut should be.

working it into a nut is a piece of cake with a set of needle files and it polishies up lovely going through the grits to 1000grit.

it adds to the sound of the guitars unfretted notes wonderfully with a brilliant crystal clear like bell tone.

i will be ordering more with my next order.

Great source for bone blanks
irfrench 13.11.2014
I bought this as a back-up solution in case an eBay purchase came in a poor state. The price is great and when bought with another product it is good value! The guitar came and the nut was awful. So I got to use this!

The bone was a good density and seemed (whilst cutting/filing) consistent throughout. It trimmed down to size easily with a fine saw and then took filing very well and finally polished up with increasingly fine grit sandpaper.

Obviously as a blank - you need to shape this to your needs much more so than a pre-fab'd one. There are no string slots so you will need measure, re-measure, mark and cut yourself.

Great to grab and add onto an order so you have in stock in reserve.

Great Bone
Razvan 24.11.2015
I have bought this to shape a nut for a 4 string bass and the first thing i have to say it`s huge. If you have a fender style bass you can easily make 2 out of this. I think if would even fit a 6 string bass easily. When it comes to the actual bone, i don`t know much but it was a pleasure to sculpture it. It never chipped, and with the right file and sand paper i managed to make a really good nut. When it comes to the sound, i don`t think there`s any difference, but the original nut that i replaced was bone as well. I would buy this every time i need a new nut.
