Beware of Strong tension strings
CelloCoach 12.04.2020
As a lifelong fan and player of Larsen strings on my acoustic, I thought to go for a Strong tension G on my electric cello NS CR5, alongside my the same tension C. How wrong I was! It was terrible match and I was forced to "downgrade" to a regular Larsen Medium G, which is still the best string from the best brand in the world for cellos. The quality is top of the class, but the sound was very harsh. Even on my Italian acoustic, it cut too deeply, leaving less warmth to the resonance. For this, I cannot ever recommend for a well-balanced cello. This is a miss and there needs to be more data from Larsen that give us buyers a clearer picture of what to expect from a string like this, for it sounds very little like the Medium tension Magnacores or even Ariosos. Maybe if you have a G that sounds muted and muffled, this will certainly cut through well. Just not a fan, and I am a fan boy of Larsen.

Ideale Ergänzung zur Larsen Magnacore C-Saite Arioso
Theramus 02.12.2018
