Great price/performance ratio
I think MCT-10 is an excellent cable tester for this price. Actually, for this price it's a must-have product. It will save you time, money and guess-work with those dreaded cables. If you're playing guitar and sing, cables of all sorts seem to be around you. And eventually they start to break up. Or down.
I bought it to take care of a box full of old bad cables I somehow collected in 20 years of playing in bands. I bought MCT-10, multimeter and a soldering kit to stop them the scrap cables from piling up any further.
I didn't experience and problems w/ battery compartment, seems to have "clicked" in firmly. Even tried to wiggle it about, after reading some reviews regarding it loosing contact. Didn't move a bit.
The only semi-issue for me is the position of the knob. If you look at the LEDs from the angle, while MCT-10 is placed on the working desk, the selector knob will obstruct your view of the lower middle LED. If you look at the LEDs from straight above, they're really bright! Nothing a normal functioning homo sapiens couldn't work around. Some moving of the head might help.
I'm glad Thomann/Millenium offers such products for a very affordable price. As I said: for this price MCT-10 is a must-have!
Very heavy, looks and feels like "army gear". If the insides were done properly (in China of course), it should last a long time.

Sturdy, functional but with a problem
Very good for cable testing, it provides almost all the most common socket types for audio (see the product's page for a comprehensive list).
It is quite heavy and sturdy, for the not electronics-minded maybe it will take a while to understand how to relate the lights of the front-panel to an "it works - it doesn't work" concepts (for example, to some it may be not obvious that circuit continuity is a good sign in some cases and a very bad one in others).
Also very useful the internal beeper which permits to check the continuity with much ease.
A problem I had was though in the battery compartment; some 9V batteries seems really not to fit well and tend to break contact, disabling the unit. Somewhat disappointing.

surprisingly reliable and robust.
I have to same I'm a fan of a lot of thomann's own brand equipment and this is no exception, remarkably cheap and i suspect the same unit is available elsewhere - i have one that looks and feels identical except for the colour - but inexplicably this has stood up to use much better - and it's cheaper! If you are looking for a basic, all purpose workshop and on the road cable tester then this is it.

Surprisingly useful thing
I hesitated getting a cable tester, as, well, I have a multi-meter, why do I need this thing? But when I needed to check the SpeakOn cable, I was convinced.
And I'm glad I did. This thing is easy to use and detects lots of problem. Bleeding signals, reverse wires, broken cables -- everything.
Get one if you do your cables.

I use it to chech cables when I solder. Its been very helpful special if you have to chech multiline cables. It's a must if you make your own cables.

Nice and handy!
Very nice and handy little thing. I bring it to ever venue I'm doing live sound for. Works really well, just remember to bring a 9v battery.

Very handy tool for the gigbag
I use this to check that my guitar cables and peaker cables are working. Will come in very useful if I need to troubleshoot a cable issue at a gig.

Very complete unit
THis is a very complete unit, but it would really benefit for a Dummies guide to cable testing, with examples of how to set the tester, and what the results show.
Maybe a video would help, showing a couple of examples of what a good cable looks like, what does a noisy cable show, and how a dead cable show (maybe XLR and 1/4's)
Apart from the comprehensive 'how to' the unit seems fine and is a really good asset to have on any band that has gone through bad cables in the past.
The price is still cheaper than the competition, with the same number of functions(or more if I remember correctly).

A tool no tech/engineer should be without
This makes testing cables much much faster. Previously I would have to use a Active DI box and my mini mixer to test all my XLR cables. Then again use other methods to test the other cables such as Jack cables, Speakon NL4/NL2 etc.
Why did I have to use an Active DI box? Well because to test all three connections on an XLR cable you need to use phantom power. If I tested with a passive DI or dynamic microphone then it may still pass audio but would be annoying to find that I can't use phantom power or that the signal isn't balanced anymore and thus allows noise to come down the cable.
Testing cables this way starting to wear the connectors on them too. They are a lot more expensive to replace than this mini tester! I also love the fact that if you use any cables that do not match the connectors on the unit you can use the test leads. They simply bleep when there is connection between both ends. It also includes a battery test to make sure it isn't dead before you go to use it and it doesn't use any power until a connection is made.

Small but all you need!
4 stars only because it does not have the best battery compartment (it may open by itself). And the test button rotates quite hard.
But the tool itself is working flawlessly! And the price for such a tool is unbeatable.
