1. Introduction

Hardware is the stuff you play on and it does not make a noise -– ideal scenario that is. Now this definition is certainly funny but let’s go a bit more into detail here.

Hardware can be grouped in several sections. Hardware is on one hand the stands or racks that keep the instruments, i.e. toms, snare cymbals etc. in place thus allowing for optimal performance. These parts of the hardware do not move ( at least they should not J). On the other hand we have the moving parts, kick pedals and Hi-Hat.

On the following pages we would like to give you an overview regarding the various aspects of drum hardware. Many expert tips solve problems before they might arise when buying unsuitable equipment.
