Great sound for the money.
Duncan M. 19.06.2013
I was very surprised when I got this cymbal - I wasn't expecting it to sound so good. For something that doesn't cost very much, it has a really nice, full sound - not too harsh and brittle, not too deep and washy. It was nice and solid as well - I've seen cheaper cymbals literally be folded in half, but this one stayed solid as a rock. I used this frequently for recording sessions, gigs, a tour, and more rehearsals than I can care to count. It sounded great at all.

I used the cymbal primarily as a crash - I play in a post-metal band, and the sound we go for is very large, a wall of sound, if you will. This cymbal was excellent for that purpose, both as an accent and when used as the main focus in a pattern.

The one fault I would have with this is the longevity - I got mine at the end of June 2012, and in April 2013 it began to crack. It started small, but by the end of May had spread to the bell. Although the cheapness of the cymbal means that it's not exactly out of the question to buy a new one, it's still a bit annoying. I do play fairly heavily though, so it would probably last a lot longer for someone playing lighter styles of music than the heaviness I prefer.

Overall though, it's a great cymbal. It sounds really good, especially for the money, but it might not be the longest-lasting. It's well worth the purchase, and I'll be buying a new one soon enough!

4/5.

PST3 Great cymbal
Rafael419 05.03.2015
I bought this 18 inch cymbal as accessory to my other cymbals, thinking more in rock set up than something else. I wasn’t looking for something thin close to jazz cymbals, instead I wanted something with well that “cut trough” and with a rock stick definition. This cymbal really accomplishes that, but without the annoying overtones that B8 cymbals give you normally. It is a clean rocky sound: good when you crash it, very good when you ride it. This size does not give you the volume that other cymbals could give you when you ride it, so is a good cymbal if you want to change the dynamic of what you are playing. This cymbals is very good price for money. I bought it a few years back and still have it. Is part of my set up!

Good cymbal for practising or home use. Only its lifetime is very shot if you are loving hard cymbal playing or just playing loud music. But for home usage for practise or record demo, its okey.

Soft market from Paiste, even though the quality here is great, it doesn?t offer many possibilities in terms of exploring different sounds.I reckon it is a bit too think to be used at a crash, infact i use it as a ride for my jungle drumset, works just fine and has a good sounding bell!

Paiste PST3 18" Crash/ride
Mr B 22.06.2017
I have alwys been a fan of Paiste cymbals since I was playing as a kid. They look and sound great. Although the PST3 range is without a doubt a budget range, they come with years of cymbal manufacturing know-how. This crash/ride cuts through the music with a fast attack on the crash and a steady sustain on the ride patterns, without too much over-ring. When the time comes to upgrade, it'll be PST7's all round!

Value for money

This Paiste PST3 cymbal is well worth the money. The sound is really good, powerful with long sustain. It's part of my small acoustic drum set for home recording purposes. Works and sounds nice, just what I needed for a low price!
