Excellent strings.
Matias M. 16.01.2015
I installed these on a Gretsch G5420T Electromatic.

They somehow didn't need to tense after installing at all. I did pull them but not too much and they kept pitch right away.

They maintained the intonation outstandingly well.

Tonewise: The sound of the 3 first strings is gonna be duller (Like an upright bass) because the lack of winding results in less harmonics, for Jazz this means the strings are more homogeneous form first to sixth and overall better for soft chords and avoid string friction sounds.

It helped with my thumb pick a lot, no more "grit grit grit" while playing.

They do have some small texture but is much softer than roundwound. I suggest to lubricate them right before use for smooth glides.

Worth it for those pursuing a vintage sound
Gearomad 04.05.2022
Got these as an experiment to stick on an Epiphone Sheraton. They definitely added to the guitar for me. The bass EAD strings were not as dull as some warn. I found a nice liveliness and brightness in the treble GBE strings. They also were a little tighter, which I liked as it offers more 'control'. A little more expensive than the ubiquitous wound strings yes but worth pursuing for those seeking a vintage sound for things like jazz or 60s Beatles stuff. As a tiny aesthetic bonus, the ball end sides are wound with a nice orange thread wrap which suits my sunburst Sherry nicely.

Very nice strings, they keep their tone and tension for a very long time (around 6 months in my case) before they start to get worn out.

A
clear tone
Anonymous 06.03.2014
I use this strings with my Ibanez AG 75 to play jazz (mostly older stuff, not very much modern). The strings are very accurate, they have a clear tone and a nice sustain. They have not too much treble, but as well not too much bass, if you don't want it to have. I used other strings before, and sometimes I had to work very much on the EQ to get a nice tone. Not with the Pyramid Strings, I really love to play and them and listen to them.
They are very smooth for the fingers, and seem to be very good processed.

SMOOOOOTH
Ricky14 25.03.2024
Smooth, percussive and defined, that's not to say bright, however. I really enjoy these strings and often find myself whacking a set on any guitar eventually. Not easy to bend, but why are you doing that anyway? Offer a uniquely percussive sound whether you play cleanly or with overdrive. I really like these strings and have a soft spot in my heart for them.

I do not think they are expensive as they will out last you, and if you get tired of them, take them off and keep them for when your rounds go dull.

Definitely recommend.

Gives a real 60s sound
Martin4154 17.05.2016
Has a really smooth texture and feels really comfortable when playing. They last much longer than nickelwound strings. I play in a Beatles tribute band and these strings are perfect for giving that real 60s Beatles sound!

Smooth
Anonymous 17.02.2017
Used on a Loar arch top with P90. Very comfortable to play and solid sound. I cannot compare them as they are the only strings I have had on this guitar but they work well and last very well. The sound acoustically is a little wooden but I think it is more the guitar. Amplified they give good bass, clear treble and smooth arch top sound.

choose the right guitar
Anonymous 14.07.2014
I played them on an acoustic western guitar. The feeling is very nice, but the acoustic sound level is quiet low. That is why you better should use them on electric guitars or jazz guitars.

Best for slide
Christopher1598 03.07.2014
These really are the best strings you can get for slide work, and 11s work perfectly on a Les Paul (tuned to open D or G you won't overstress the neck).
