Cheap, simple, sturdy, just works
What it is: a box. :-) No batteries, nothing special. You put that thing on your pants, stick there your phones, input jack, crank up the volume you want and you're done.
Built like it has another purpose to crack nuts or hammer nails into a walls (well, Germans). I have literally nothing else to add here. It is just perfect piece.
Thanks, Thomann!

Excellent produit
Je l'utilise en live depuis 3 ans et il ne ma jamais fait défaut. Bonne qualité de fabrication, notamment du bouton de volume.

Made By Fisher Amps
It does the job perfectly. It's made by the German company Fisher Amps, which also have great in-ear boxes. I really love that you can choose if you want mono L/R or stereo, and that you can plug in both a stereo jack or a xlr cable. great product!

Perfect one for me.
Pros: Made from Fischer Amps used quality parts. It has every known option to connect to all type of Aux outs - nevermind what type of cable you use or mono/stereo Aux out you take the signal from. Being passive reduces the posibility to damage your hearing. The volume is more than enough even for a drummer.
Con: Just one, but significant - no straight way to the internal switch. So if you use it with a different mixing boards, you should always have a screwdriver on hand. But at the same time the housing is so stiff that you might not use the screw at all.

solid
I bought this for in-ear foldback in the drum booth at church.
it is very compact, well built and solid with a 6.5 jack/xlr port at one end and a 3.5 headphone jack and volume control at the topside. There is a belt clip at the side which seems to be quite robust. We have a earphone monitor amp so this passive controller is perfect. The sound quality is very good and the clip for locking xlr's in place is great as i have used other headphone monitors in the past were the lead fell out mid song! The volume control has a nice responsive feel to it when turning and doesnt feel flimsy. The mono/stereo switch is internal so you need a precision screwdriver for the 1 screw on the side to get inside - this could be explained better in the instructions.
great value, good quality product and excellent customer service communication from Thomann.

Very decent but definitely lacking bass compared to active preamps.
It's loud enough for my in-ears but compared to the Behringer P2 it really lacks in low end. Less hiss then the P2 tough.

A must for anyone in a live band situation wanting to get into in-ear monitoring
This little device is great, I got it for it's ability to receive a mono signal and send that to both sides. The XLR locking mechanism is a bonus (I recommend using it instead of the 1/4" jack because you will definitely step on the cable and yank it out.

Surprisingly good headphone amp
I bought one of these as a backup for my active iem system and was very surprised how well it works and I'm now using it most of the time as its so simple and doesn't run out of batteries. You get enough volume running it from the XLR aux out on a mixing desk and the sound quality is pretty good, a little weak on the mid lows but in many ways that makes things quite clear. I have used it with various mixing desks and with unity gain output on the desk there is plenty of volume for running my shure 425s from.

Solved wired monitoring problems
After trying other wired monitoring problems i found out that there were some problems when connecting a headset with low impedance (Shure SE215) to my monitor out. This simplistic box solved it and now I have an accepatable stereo monitor sound.
