Great piece of kit
Anonymous 17.10.2014
I'm using the pedal power 2 plus to power 8 vintage boss pedals and it's worked wonders in eliminating ground loop hum vs daisy chaining power from a single power supply. It also makes the pedal shelf in my a rack a lot neater.

The unit itself seems really well put together and built to last.

It has an additional IEC type output which is incredibly useful. I'm using it power a mains voltage Carl Martin pedal, but it could also be used to power another 2 plus for larger boards.

Being a German retailer, Thomann supplied a 220v version which works perfectly in the UK, and they also included a mains lead with a UK plug as an extra (Without me asking for this), which is a nice touch and appreciated.

Great product that you'll forget about once it's installed, which is as it should be.

A
Amazingly versatile and well made unit
Algirdas 21.05.2013
I've been using one of these for a few years now. It looks and feels as if it could survive an apocalypse. It is larger and heavier than some other units but, unlike some cheaper alternatives, it has isolated outputs that should, in theory, reduce crosstalk between the pedals and remove a lot of noise from your signal. Prior to purchasing the Pedal Power 2 Plus, I used a daisy chain cable to power my pedals. I am not completely sure but I think that the Voodoo Lab unit is a little bit quiter. I suppose it depends on the pedals you're using but in my case, the difference wasn't as profound as I'd hoped. Nevertheless, this is an excellent power supply that is far more versatile than many of us will ever need. For example, it even has an ability to simulate a dying battery which is a must for some fuzz pedal enthusiasts because it can change the tonal character of the pedal! If you don't have that many pedals or simply don't need all of the features, I'd suggest taking a look at a Voodoo Lab ISO5. It is smaller, lighter and less expensive than the Pedal Power 2 Plus but is built to the same high standard you'd expect from Voodoo Lab.

Worth every penny!

I use this power supply for my PedalTrain.
It is really great, I highly recommend it, I was a little bit "scared" of the price, because you can get much cheaper ones.
Quality of this product is superb, no feedback, no "noises", nothing bad to say, "it's all you need for 9v, 18v or 24v pedals (maybe you just need to order separate Y cable).
It doesn't come with "braces" for board if you want to mount it under the pedal board (which is a great place for space economy). So, order those separately!
If I will make another pedal board, I would definitely buy this power supply again!

The best in its class.

When it comes to power, you don't really get any better than the Pedal Power 2.

So, I don't use this in the typical sense, on a pedal board. I have this installed in my Guitar Rack along with my Voodoo Labs GCX Switcher. It powers all sorts of different pedals.

The main issue I use to have was noise. I used a daisy chain cable running off of one plug before this, and I always had this really high pitched wine. I could never figure out why it did it. But all I know is, that went straight away, when I got this.

It actually cleaned up my guitar tone. Its amazing how important clean power to your pedals is. So don't hesitate on spending money on this. Its completely worth it. Also I think it could with stand a drop from the top of a sky scraper.

Good Quality Power Supply - but watch for proximity hum
Anonymous 08.12.2015
Excellent quality regulated power supply with eight isolated 9 volt outputs (100mA each).

Outputs 5 and 6 actually give you 250 mA each - useful for pedals that require more current. I use them with a current doubler cable for a effects pedal switching system. Voltage doubling cables are available too - if you want to run a 18volt pedal.

Outputs 7 and 8 - you can reduce the voltage to mimic a dying battery (the sag function) though I haven't tried that.

Also - for older pedals Boss pedals (that operate at 12V) this can be selected via switches underneath the unit.

However, if you place a pedal in close proximity to the power supply, beware of induced noise/hum. The power supply is mounted on the under-surface of my pedal board. I solved that by placing my tuner above the power supply (it is not part of the signal chain).

All in all a highly reliable - and noise free unit. Highly recommended...

Easy to install, easy to use, feels solid
Voodoo Tone 13.12.2021
As a first impression: I like how it feels, solid and compact, all made of metal. It comes with all the necessary cables, making it ready to use for your pedalboard. I installed in a few minutes and works as expected. Great product.

As good as it gets

You dont know your pedal power supply is noisy until you try this one and feel the difference :) It's MASSIVE!! It also powers up my EVENTIDE pitch factor! However, it doesn't have a cable to fit the DIgitech Whammy power supply, despite the fact it can actually power it. You need to get an aftermarket cable for that (NOT easy to find).

A standard.
Leon Z. 03.04.2019
The only thing that compares are the newer Cioks power supplies. Otherwise - this is the one to get. It has set the standard for other power supplies for a decade or even more and it ticks all the required boxes - quiet? Yup. Enough power for more power consuming pedals? Indeed. Sturdy? Mhm. Voltage options? 9, 12 and with additional cables you can combine voltages on outputs for 18 and 24. Power sagging? Aha. Additional 220V courtesy output for pedals with built in power cords? Yeah, it's got that too. I have 3 of these (and 5 Cioks units) and if I ever need another one, I will not hesitate.

Pedal Power 2 5 Years later
Anonymous 19.02.2017
Nearly 5 years on and this unit is still just as good as the day I bought it. This has been under my pedaltrain board (also bought from thomann) without 1 single issue.

It powers all of my pedals with ease and the voltage double cable gives the extra juice where needed. Above and beyond the money invested in pedals, amps and guitars this is a must have to make sure everything is sounding right from the start. No more strange hum or dip in power.

It is an exceptionally versatile unit that can power all sorts of pedals with the option to double voltage, sag pedals (lower voltage to emulate worn battery). This sounds killer on my wah pedal.

I have the power supply mounted under the Pedaltrain 2 with the Voodoo Lab brackets that came with the board. If you're using a different board the Pedal Power has a modest footprint so won't take up a huge amount of real estate on your board. It's built like a tank out of quality materials and doesn't weigh the earth.

There is a reason that Voodoo Lab have become the industry standard for pedal power. Hats off to Thomann once again for their fine service - purchased and shipped to the UK within a few days.

If you're investing in your pedals, you owe it to yourself to grab one of these. You won't regret it!
