Walrus Audio Slö Multi Texture Reverb

I am using it to make ambient/post-rock sounds, and loving this pedal, it's always on now.

Pros:
Can go 100% wet
Creative interesting reverbs.
Top mounted jacks.
Sounds Fantastic

Cons:
Only 3 reverb algorithms available for ~£170

It's not a overly complex box that once you understand the controls it's quick to find a good sound that can create oodles of ambiance, you can hit that sustain and now it's infinite, you can then add modulation depth and make your ambiance much more involved.

Dream and Dark are great for more typical reverb sounds, but one of the funnest sounds I've found is sending distorted sounds in to Rise mode with 100% wetness to make for these delightful swells, that work similarly to swelling with a pedal or volume knob, but much simpler to achieve.

I've not had a chance but I think I could use that could be used for creative sounds outside of guitar but I'd need to try plugging a synth / bass into it really to further explore what it can do.

Appearance wise it's quite something to look at on your pedalboard and at the end of the day I think we can all agree that's all that really matters.

Bought this reverb after looking up a few youtube videos. I've had a EHX cathedral before and was able to play on a few other known reverb pedals. Just from pluging the guitar in straight to my soundcard without any amp sims the sound became so much warmer and detailed. Like switching from a shit soundcard to a perfect spanky crisp DI signal.
I've only had it or 2weeks now but still havent figured out all the settings but for each reverb type you can just look it up on youtube. So i'll just say the pro's to this besides the amazing sound and reverb it gives is that there's something constantly happening with the reverb so its really good for experimenting and getting a whole lot of different sounds(from swells with octaves, weird sink detunes, amazing lush post rock ocean deep souns) but will also give you the typical reverb if you want.
CLARITY
If you're not sure about getting a Slo or another reveb pedal, I'd suggest get both. There's no losing with getting this pedal.

For a rundown of all the features, my suggestion is to watch the videos. Essentially, this is all about long, modulated reverbs. For me , with a little chorus, it's evocative of Cocteau Twins more than MBV. While previously I was never a big reverb user, I find I have it pretty much always on at shows now.

It's a very long and bright reverb that can be filtered (great), but the decay time is essentially static. The decay knob is really a dampening knob, and while it does reduce the high frequency decay the low end rumbles on. This approach makes sense in that the reverb they designed is the one you hear, but it makes it a little less flexible. Very short reverbs are not really an option!

I use it on the middle setting, where the X causes a ramp up effect which is great for either doing reverse-reverb esque sounds or allowing you to keep your guitar transient intact.

The octave down setting, while cool, is not something I could see using in a band setting. However the Dream's "latch" reverb is perfect for those who might want to create pads or beds. I often find myself using the sustain button to create little noise walls during jams.

Overall, great pedal. Does its thing, and its thing is very cool.

This pedal doesnt fit my style and I was umming and ahhing over sending it back, if it were easier to get a normal reverb sound i'd have kept it.
That being said, the tones this things produce are lovely and the build quality and looks are next to none. I did feel a bit inspired to branch out on an atmospheric quest but, as an at home guitarist, I cant justify have two reverbs for normal and spacey tones, so i'm going to get an Oceans11 I think.
If I had more money then i'd have kept this to do a bit of exploring, but like i say, i just cant justify it myself and need a reverb that can do both.

I bought this pedal, beacuse i was in a need for a reverb pedal, so i brought the most interesting one i could find and i defiently picked the right one. This is one guitar pedal i do not regret buying. The sound is crystal clear and the amount of potential is almost unlimited, wheter you need just a simple reverb function or a huge athomsperic pad for ambient playing.

This pedal seems to have everything i looked for, and i can certainly reccomend it to everyone i know, who plays guitar or piano. Not only is the product top quality but also the design of this thing is stellar. Its beautiful to just have on display in your room.

I really tried to find something i didnt like about this pedal but i really cant. Maybe the charger input could have been a little more delicate but thats it. It looked kind of phoned in at the last minute of production.

In conclusion, i am very happy i bought this thing along with all the other cables and trinkets.

There is a lot to say about this pedal, so I'll keep it short.
It's is in a way a more intense and focused Fathom Reverb by walrus but something completely different as well (I use both, and I'm very happy), the Slö is great for soundscape-ish, deep, immersive reverb tones and/or more modulated textured sounds, great with more basic reverb in front, like the fathom for example.
The Slö also features some amazing and varied functions with the 3 modes it comes with, the "Dream" (Latched) mode is the first go to in a way of tasting what this pedal can achieve, the "Dark" and "Rise" are secondary to some people who use this pedal (from what I've seen), but well explored can go to great lengths as well.

This is a very nice reverb for anyone looking to dive into some shoegazey textures. It's sporting some interesting algorithm, and none that sound like an always-on reverb type, so there's some fun to pe had here!

I'm not too big on the hidden menu diving of switching tails on and off (but that's almost a standard by this point the way I've seen), and switching the modulation effect for each of the algorhythms. For those - you have to hold a combination of buttons and use the algorythm switch to change the mod for current algorithm. But all that having actually a single switch representing both algorithm and mod setting. Thankfully there's also a master reset function for those. They could've just dropped an extra switch to control those for the pricepoint, idk...

At any rate, the construction and design are solid. There's plenty to go about fiddling. And it's a well-recommended effect.

- the "menu diving" for the hidden features

Just a short note on this pedal. I received it from Thomann on time as usual, everything 100%. First class built quality. This is handmade in the USA and it sure feels like something special the moment you open the box, everything is solid and feels secure. Setting it up was very simple and easy, I chained it from my TC electronics Mojo Mojo overdrive to the delay, also TC pedal, Flashback II. Sound-wise. The pedal needs some experimental tweakings on start. Do not expect overwhelming results on first try but when you have found your proper mix, this pedal will amaze you. If I would describe it, its characteristics are somewhat dark, mystical-dreamy, those at Walrus have obviously dived deep when they developed the pedal.

As I mentioned I used an overdrive on the first try but nonetheless, it can shine without overdrive, just a matter of each personal taste.

There are of course many choices if you are considering a reverb pedal but at this price point, this one is a winner!
