Great budget rack strip
Mark7258 13.02.2016
I bought two of these to make my own desktop 3 x 5U unit and was quite happy with this for the price.
The rack holes are punched out and the end finish is a bit rough and ready, but not too much of a problem since they are going to be hidden when your rack unit is full. You could polish them up if you wanted to.

These are quite easy to cut by hand with a hacksaw and then can be filed smooth. Neither piece's end was the 'start' of a rack unit meaning that there was quite a bit of waste, so make sure you allow for that. The other edge of the strip is completely blank so you are free to drill and screw where you like.

Overall, for the price these are great and I would buy them again when I next make a unit.

Ideal for my needs!
somebobi 12.07.2017
The rails arrived and they look better than the pictures here! After reading one of the reviews, I fully expected some rough edges around the nut holders from the machine cuts, but instead I got a shiny, polished, smooth set of rails from top to bottom! It looks like Thomann really takes those reviews seriously, so they are improving the quality of their products.

I also ordered the 5650 cage nut pack to go with it, just to make sure everything fits nicely (and it does).

I recommend these rails, especially for home-built racks!

Wrong length

You have to cut off a part of it that you can't really use because it isn't a full unit.

I don't get why Thomann (or their supplier, if they buy it like that) don't sell it a bit less than a meter a piece, without the part that will probably go to waste.

You could collect four of those cut off parts and combine them, but I doubt many people do that.

Other than that, it does what it's supposed to.
