I love this one!

This is a great product for giving the guitar the extra bite and mids.

A word of advice: when installing this, don't set the boost at maximum (you'll understand what I'm referring to when you're there). I had it on max and it just made the guitar sound terrible and over distorted (much like the "loudness-mastering" on Metallica's Death Magnetic). Begin at 50%, try the guitar throught the amp and adjust upwards if needed.
Also, think about this before installing it: do you want it to activate when flicking the switch down or up? If you know that, you can put it in the right position from the start.
I wish I had this boost in all my guitars...

Great but you need an electronics background ....

These are brilliant ..... I find that because of the amount of abuse the wiring of the entire guitar takes, you have be able to fault find electronics to do these & be prepared to repeatedly dismantle Strat guitars, which have no easy access panels, just the complete front panel, meaning removing the strings then a complete rebuild to test it

Great on-board booster

I used this to provide the active boost for an Andy Summers replica Telecaster I built.

It did a great job; I moved the trim pot to a full-size pot to control the boost level just like on Andy's guitar.

Needed it to blend passive and active
Anonymous 18.03.2015
I got EM81 bridge and two passive.
So i needed a preamp for passives, because blending passive and active is a bad thing (tested it...horrible).
I used the other side of my selector for passives, and put PA2 at this side's output.
And soldered PA2 output and other side of selector output (EMG81 side) between them.

I put both PA2 and EMG81 at 18V (they handle up to 27V), and a 9V-18V switcher instead of tone knob (metalheads don't need tone knobs :D ).

Nice solution to avoid bypassing passive pickups or replacing them by active single coils.
