A quoi sert cette mini straight mute me direz vous??? en fait, son utilisation diffère largement des straight courantes, et est utilisée quasi exclusivement en jazz et surtout en blues.
Pour utiliser la pixie, il vous faudra vous procurer également un Plunger (différents modèles en vente sur le site). La pixie s'utilise en combinaison avec le plunger, et s'accommode très bien avec quelques effets de trompette tels que le "flat", le "growl"...
L'effet "blues" est garanti, et rappelle les fabuleuses interventions du Trompettiste Bubber Miley chez Duke Ellington....

Das ist DER Pixie zur Verwendung mit Plunger, wie es v.a. bei Ellington öfter mal vorkommt. Frisch geliefert klingt er ganz brav wie ein Straight Mute - um den typischen Quäk-Sound zu bekommen muss das innere Röhrchen entfernt werden (einfach z.B. mit einem Schraubendreher rein und etwas wackeln - ist nur reingesteckt).
Ich musste vom Kork außerdem ziemlich viel abraspeln, allerdings ist mein Schalltrichter auch ziemlich klein. Jetzt tut er jedenfalls genau was er soll. Ärgerlich nur, dass dieser Winzling ohne Alternativen so teuer ist - deswegen gibt es immer noch Kollegen in der Band, die sich weigern ihn zu kaufen - denn so oft will und braucht man den Quäk-Effekt ja nun wirklich nicht. ;-)
