This one came second
I used one of these on stage for a number of years before moving on to something else. Taking advantage of Thomann's wonderful 30 day returns policy I recently revisited the 'Screamers' and comparison tested all of the Ibanez and Maxon offerings. Side by side, all at the same time for a really conclusive test.
Whilst this classic green stomp box is familiar, built like a brick shit house and delivering familiar tones, I ultimately chose to keep the Maxon OD808 for its warmer, less aggressive sound.

It is what it is! I use a '59SLP reissue and indoors at least, that needs a tube screamer! I've used more modestly priced OD pedals in the past but tonally these are of a higher standard so the price tag is somewhat justified!
The range of the TS9 is great from clean boost to heavy drive it can be used for a variety of styles. The endless debate between the TS808 and 9 isn't as clear cut to me as saying as the 9 is more "modern" or it's "edgier". As with any signal processor you can manipulate it further using your guitar's volume and tone control. This pedal isn't true bypass so that's worth noting, but it's versatile and very good ad what it's built to do.

Perfect and Multipurpose
Multipurpose
Yes summarize with one word "multipurpose" I spent two weeks researching and testing what the best sound for an overdrive pedal, I tested Electro Harmonix Soul Food, Boss SD-1 Boss BD-2, Boss OD-1X Overdrive Boss OD 3, MXR Zakk Wylde Berzerker Overdrive, and Chegui the comclusão that all these cited in the test are basic, is limited in my opinion.
When it came time to test Ibanez -TS9 was a surprise, with a Fender Super Reverbs perfect sound you can feel the valves scream, Marshall
DSL100H also perfect, my neighbor asked to turn the volume down, only I had traveled in sound, picked up my Fender Mustang I VII and the TS-9 working very well.
In conclusion, Ibanez TS-9 worth every cent paid, you can play Blues, Rock and Metal easy next to a Big Muff TS-9 boosts for a strong sound and the heavy unequaled, first choice for SRV and Kirk Hammett now I know why It was and is unequaled.
(Forget test on YouTube, or any video for pedals, you need to feel the pedal for yourself, you never know the trick used to fool your choice)

Great piece of kit
Classic sound, I'm currently having fun using this to push the preamp in my all valve Marshall TSL 602.
The first thing I've noticed, moving away from my Spider IV modelling amp to valves and using this to get my tone, rather than modelling circuit is just how much sustain I'm getting off my Les Paul Standard. I've never heard it sound like that.
I've gone back to the Spider and compared - although it's way more convenient to push a button, you can just hear the sustained notes drop off way before they should.
So overall, using this pedal to boost signal into a valve amp preserves the actual instrument signal, its sustain and clarity, but be prepared to be fiddling with dials for a while until you're happy.
Good overall build quality on the pedal, LED is notoriously difficult to see when lit and the battery connector is a bit cheap, but those are not big problems. Recommended piece of kit.

Awesome
Great pedal, the light could be a little more bright but other than that, look no further! Perfect to give you that little bit extra punch that your amp needs. Throw it over a clean channel and your amp comes to live.
Quit thinking about it and just buy it already.

A must have
I was a bit dissapointed of the raw and fizzy sound of my MESA Dual rectifier Roadster and I had a hard time dialing in a good metal tone but with this Tube Screamer in front it's just heaven.
I followed Ola Englund's good avice on the settings of the pedal: Level at max, gain at zero and tone set to 1 or 2 o clock (according to personal preferences) and you're good to go.
Great purchase and great service from Thomann as always.

perfekt um einem Tube Amp nochmal etwas mehr Schub zu geben und die Bässe etwas tighter zu machen

One trick pony, but what a great trick!
I bought this when I got my valve head, as I needed something to give me a touch more boost and overdrive, and to push the gain a touch more. The features are basic but effective, and it does its job really well. It's great for giving a dirty sound that little extra push over the edge. However, this isn't really a distortion in itself, it works really well in conjunction with something else as the main source of your distortion, but on its own it is a little weedy. Having said all that, it is a vital component of my pedalboard, and it does its one little job better than anything else.
