With a strat . . .
Jez Upminster 03.08.2020
Using a pair of these in an open back cabinet powered off a small amp in stereo. With a Strat they really bring out the jangle and those elusive delicate qualities of the guitar. Delay, reverb and modulation effects come across well. The natural overdrive of the amp seems to work with the speakers to give a satisfying sense of edgy articulaton.

They are bright and cutting and start working hard at a lower volume which is exactly what I was aiming at with this cabinet build.

What anyone feels about a guitar speaker is quite subjective. The subtle differences are almost impossible to quantify even from the best demos. What it eventually boils down to is "do they make you want to play more?" These speakers "feel" good - I find myself enjoying the sound and wanting to play more.

I bought these about a year ago and I'm pleased with them.

I bought a pair of P10Rs for a 4x10 cabinet in which I put them together with a pair of Eminence blue frame alnico’s in X pattern. The cabinet is made of pine in the dimensions of a bassman 59 combo, openback. On it I play a boutique head 5f6a, but with some modifications, such as master, gain channel, kt88 tubes, fx loop ... I can't be more satisfied, that's what I was looking for for this amplifier.

Very nice sound
Inglese 14.10.2017
I bought one of there P10R to match it with an Eminence Legend 1058 in a 2x10 open back guitar cab I built.
I was looking for a companion able to enrich the good mid response of ceramic Legend and I found Jensen alnico to fullfill perfectly my needs: it adds firm and deep bass end plus the open and detailed top end I was looking for and in midband frequecies it perform better to my ears than bigger P12 alnico speaker (they sound more mid scoped).
Now the final well balanced configuration for the cab is Jensen P10R + Eminence 1058.

Great for guitar recording, but not as good as the vintage one..
Evoker 28.07.2020
Great speaker, gives a much more "mix ready" guitar tone when recorded compared to 12" speakers, excellent pair for Fender Tweed Deluxe and Bassman amps.

I also should admit that 10" speakers in general is a better choice for silent cabs.

After buying this one I scored a 1959 Jensen off ebay and although I still love this one - the vintage one is just a bit more natural, true to the source sounding. But still, if I haven't bought a vintage one, I'd use this one with no problem!

This is a nice sounding speaker that I used to upgrade/change the sound of my Fender Blues Junior. Very happy with the end result.

T
Vintage Fender alnico sound!
Tan-man 17.08.2021
Full of "That Vintage Fender Alnico Sound" , this speaker is a standard.
With it's more upper mid range tone, its a good fit for 50's fender amps.

Even if some people says that the sound is a bit too sharp, but I personally think that this is just its own characteristics. If you like that traditional fender sound, then this speaker is undoubtedly one of the right choices.

Got a boxy, honky sounding 1x10" amp? This might be what you need.
Tim2790 12.10.2014
I bought this for my 5w practice combo, to replace a Celestion Vintage 10. It has brought the amp to life. The Jensen is a more "hi-fi" speaker, with richer highs and lows and less of a mid-hump. The amp no longer sounds like a little box.

My only negative is that it is slightly lower sensitivity than the Celestion, so the amp isn't quite as loud, although it's not a big difference. It still keeps up with the band, as long as the drummer is easy on the cymbals.

I think these are a great alternative in a 1 x 10" configuration. Probably good in 2, 3, or 4 x 10's too, but I wouldn't know.
