Metallic and hollow sounding, very stiff, short life expactancy.
TCSMD 01.09.2021
When searching online acoustic guitar forums everyone seems to refer to these strings as warm sounding. They're not. Maybe if you're comparing them to D'Addarios or similarly bright/metallic sounding strings but in the larger perspective these are bright strings with a rather strident, brash tone. It feels like the guitar is shouting at me when using these strings. The highs are metallic and the lows are kinda hollow. If I dig in hard the lows collapse into a bloated, boomy mess.

This metallic, hollow tone actually reminds me of strings for autoharps and zithers. I guess you would say they have great clarity but on a guitar it gets rather sterile.

At first I actually found these strings interesting because they are slightly different to other strings and it's always exciting to try something new. But it soon got old and so did the strings. These strings have a very short life expectancy and go "dead" really fast.

I didn't like how they felt under the fingers either. They have a very stiff, uncomfortably feel, although the windings are reasonably smooth and the tension is no worse than other .012 sets. I suspect the stiffness is the reason why these strings fail to produce warm, full lows and instead end up with a hollow sounding, boomy mess.

Strings are very subjective so I'm sure a lot of people will like these strings but personally I think these strings are rather poor and will never buy them again.

Great strings for martin guitars
Anonymous 27.01.2017
Put this on a martin om28, and it gives that great warm sound as expected.
(had tried one of my favorite acoustic strings before, the elixir 80/20, and on the Martin om28 was a huge disappointment!). The John Pearse made the tremendous and unique martin tone sparkle.

Great sound

One of the brightest sounds I think I've heard, really nice feel and sound, they feel good, worth the money and great to play. They seem to sound better the more you play them too! They don't lose their colour or tone when you play them regularly which is a huge plus! They are thicker than the average guitar string (or in my opinion they are, regardless of gauge) they hold tuning better too...... however... if you are not used to them be mindful of playing 3-4 gigs on the trot, they made my fingers really sore after the first 2 gigs, and I had to take them off my guitar on the 3rd day and add some really light gauge strings to get thorough my next two performances.
Don't get me wrong they are great strings, and great sound but ensure you get your fingers used to them first!

Make sure you try these strings before you settle. These are well balanced strings either for pick or fingerstyle. First time I put them on my Taylor I was woaed.... The Richest sound and the right intonation. Very nice product

The best uncoated string. Note the adjective.
Anonymous 04.11.2014
Bought a pack, and tried them out on my Collings OM2H. I usually use Elixirs and love their slippery feel. This is not the string for that. When new, they had the the best tone I could imagine from a string. Also I could get right hand dynamics out of this string (really dig into them) with an ease unlike whatever string I used prior to it. They remain uncoated though, so for me, the fun only lasts for a couple weeks, then they become grimey and sticky due to corrosion. While not the string I would use on a regular basis (more as a one-off for recordings), I very much recommend this product if you are a serious acoustic guitar player that relies mostly on their right hand dynamics: for anything except string life and left hand slipping, this string is - in my humble opinion - close to perfection.

GS
Great string set
George Sims 01.03.2021
I had heard good things about these strings so I finally decided to buy a couple of sets replacing the Martins (MSP4100 phsphor bronze) I have always used on my Guild D-55. They are very balanced and warm sounding with good sustain. Exactly what I was looking for and definitely a perfect match for this particular guitar. Very happy with them!
