Space-saving workstation

The Millenium SD-180 StudioDesk is a workstation of generous size, specifically designed to meet the demands of both recording and music production. In addition to a 180cm wide working surface, it offers two raised shelves for studio monitors, a pull-out shelf for a master keyboard, and two angled 19" racks with four rack units each for the installation of audio interfaces, preamps, and other hardware. If you are looking for a spacious and well-organised working environment at home or in a project studio, the Millenium SD-180 StudioDesk is a real bargain.

Integrated 4U 19" rack in the Millenium SD-180 B StudioDesk

Practical design

The two studio monitor shelves are relatively large, measuring 600 x 240mm. They provide additional space for a second pair of speakers, which is necessary when working with a two-way system commonly used in home studios. Since the 19" racks below are angled, built-in hardware can be operated quite comfortably from the sweet spot. With a surface area of 1000 x 400mm, the pull-out keyboard shelf offers lots of space for a small master keyboard or other controllers. A space-saving alternative to the Millenium SD-180 StudioDesk is the SD-120 StudioDesk with a width of 120cm.

Ideal for home and project studios

In most home and project studios, space is not used exclusively for music production. As a result, the setup of the studio is often a trade-off. The Millenium SD-180 StudioDesk offers a cost-effective alternative to such permanently improvised workstations. Since it is mounted on castors and associated equipment such as a computer can be placed on the stable baseplate, it is also possible to move the complete workstation across the room with ease. In this way, space is made available for other activities if so required.

About Millenium

Millenium is one of Thomann’s in-house brands and has been an integral part of the store’s range since 1995. More than 800 products – from drums and percussion through to accessories such as microphone stands, racks, and recording workstations – bear the Millenium label. These products are made by renowned companies who also manufacture products for other well-known brands. Since they are imported directly from the factory without any further distributors or sales companies, they can be sold at particularly attractive prices. Incidentally, one in every four Thomann customers has already purchased at least one Millenium product.

Structured and self-contained workspace

The Millenium SD-180 StudioDesk creates a spacious and practical workspace for every stage of music production. As such, it cuts a fine figure in the lounge or hobby room at home, as well as in the rehearsal room or a spacious project studio. Since the entire workstation is on castors, it is possible to place it in the centre of the room and take advantage of the resulting acoustic benefits - without permanently blocking the space for other activities. Compared to a simple table with separate speaker stands, an adjacent master keyboard, and an additional 19" rack, the SD-180 StudioDesk offers an excellently structured and self-contained workspace.

L
The best layout I found but very cheap quality
Liukke 04.03.2022
I love this desk, I was looking for this layout exactly since I like the very spread apart speakers and the empty space in between them, where I put an additional screen below the main one.
The double 4 slots of racks available are great, I can organise my audio interface, preamps and a master power switch without occupying any extra space somewhere else.

The table seems sturdy, the MDF feels solid and for now I had no problems with it but the rest of the components scream cheapness all over the place.
The four thin legs might look ugly but give TONS of space underneath the desk, I have my computer there, a pedalboard and other stuff which in other tables wouldn't fit due to the walls.

On the other hand, those legs are the worst thing ever...they are hollow metal and they basically resonate. On the back legs there is a metal piece where you can route cables and stuff like that and it's to tight (because the measures are probably off) that resonates like a thunder when you bump the table.
I solved the issue by literally pouring sand up to 3/4 of each leg and dampening them and fixing the metal piece differently...now it's working nicely.

The screws that come with the desk are not enough, instead of 32 there are only 24...enough for 3 screws per rack piece.
To me it's unacceptable and simply screams low quality, I understand the desk is rather cheap compared to others but did they really need to save on 8 more screws?

The keyboard tray is ok, but in a ridiculously bad position, so much in the front that even when you put it back it's still out.
I don't know who planned that part, it feels like has been made by an underpaid frustrated employee that just slammed the screw holes positions in the most uncomfortable way possible.
Thankfully the fix is easy, make new holes and put new threads there.

I would have happily paid 200€ more for a more refined product overall, because as I said it has features that make my workflow much better than even a 2000€ ultramodern desk.

Probably I'll slowly upgrade it overtime, but it's already great as it is, highly reccomended!

J
Brilliant desk for a brilliant price!
JumpinJack 25.10.2021
Bought this desk for my home studio as I needed something more suited towards music as my last desk wasn't the best.

Delivery to the UK was a bit of hit and miss, confusion from Thomann at first then it got sorted, was told I would be called 2 days before delivery to arrange a suitable time for delivery. This never happened, but delivery guy was very helpful.

The build process was simple enough, instructions could have been a little better, but an English copy along with the German instructions was a nice touch.

Quality of the wood is amazing, looked more brown on my screen but not I have it up in my studio, it is a very nice black and dark grey colour with a very nice texture.

My only issue with this desk it the pull out shelf, its very low and does stick out slightly not allowing you to get up close to the desk, this is something I will be modifying at a later date.

Overall for a £250 studio desk, its perfect ! Well worth the purchase and am very pleased with it.

It's...huge!
b_m_d 30.03.2022
The best and possibly worst thing about this desk is it's size. It's enormous! A 150 cm version would have been perfect. But after a lot of research, it was the only desk I could find that didn't force the video monitor to have to be placed on a higher shelf. By being this big you can place the screen between the 2 smaller shelves, on the same level as the qwerty keyboard and mouse. That's a big deal for prolonged use - not having to look upward at the screen. The quality of materials for this price point is quite staggering really. It's incredibly well built. It weighs a ton. And it looks stunning in the room. I'm not using the supplied castors (wheels) because I don't want to mark the carpet and this makes the keyboard tray a little too low for my knees. But I'll come up with a solution. The pre-drilled holes for the 19 inch rack brackets didn't align and I needed to screw them in to new holes. But this was no big deal. Overall it's an incredibly well designed, well made and well priced product. I would definitely recommend it. But measure it's dimensions out in your room carefully first before you buy and don't be surprised when you see how much real estate this thing occupies when it's assembled - it's massive!

C
Arrive damaged
Curt_R 11.12.2022
Unfortunately, the desk arrived damaged, so we refused delivery. Ordered from the UK. The delivery driver told us that it had been through 4 different couriers and, at some point on it's journey, corners and sides were smashed in. The delivery driver even said that he wouldn't accept that if it was delivered to him like that.

The biggest problem with delivery is that the pallet the desk is delivered on is a lot smaller than the size of the desk. So, the desk sides go way over the length of the pallet, which leaves it wide open to warping or damage.

I wouldn't recommend ordering unless you're living close to Thomann. Definitely do not order overseas.

Returns are also a pain. Unfortunately, Thomann says it takes, on average, 3 weeks for these to be returned, so I now have to wait for the return time and then for Thomann to actually process the return.

Very disappointed.
