Your Next Snare/Tom Drumhead
Red House Drummer 28.05.2020
I've been playing Remo coated ambassadors for about 15 years and have really put them to the test through touring and gigging vigorously over the last 10 years. I've tried many drumheads and I always come crawling back to this one. This is my go-to head on my snare and toms for general playing, band practice, recording and playing shows. I've never had a problem with durability or chipped coating. I'm not a light hitter either. For me it works for pretty much any style of music because it has, IMO, the perfect combo of stick definition, warmth due to the coating and openness. I'm not going to say it's any better or worse than the competitors' equivalent because that really comes down to taste I'd say. So, pros include everything aforementioned and I really can't think of any cons--once in a blue moon I've received an ambassador head with a crooked logo or a little scuff but a defect here and there is to be expected from a big company and it's not the end of the world. Most importantly, the sound has never failed me and I can assure any drummer that you'll be pleased with this drumhead. It might not always be what the music you make demands but at the very least it'll be a damn good jumping-off point and will get you a solid sound.

a
the Remo head for me
asdfghjklö 21.01.2020
..has always been. Except for when a drum calls for a different tone. As with everything else. But.. This Remo head (and its coating) is such a beautiful invention and it's the standard drum head I compare all others with. I also know when it's not gonna work. Like for instance, it's lively, it has a lot of resonance when you tune it, it always needs padding if you want the drum to have a controlled sound. It can get thin sounding on a drum that calls for a thicker and controlled snare head.

I have always played Remo. I find their heads reliable, durable, have lots of tone, wide tuning range, and hold the tuning well. I do not feel the need to switch brands. Recommended!

For a punchy and open sound
Anonymous 24.07.2016
I own two snare drums - the Gretsch Renown Maple and the Ludwig LM402 Supra Phonic (metal snare) and the Remo Ambassador Coated head shines on them both. I mostly use the head for recording and it provides a very open sound with lots of treble and crack. In my opinion the Ambassador works best with medium to high tunings, for low tunings I prefer thicker heads as the Ambassador is relatively thin being a singleply head. In comparison to double-ply heads like the Remo Emperor, the Ambassador will wear out sooner so if you are dealing with very heavy hitting drummers you might need to change the Ambassadors more often than double-ply heads to maintain the pristine tone. However if the head is played without extra force it will preserve the tone for quite a long time. If you are looking for getting a punchy and trebly snare sound - the Remo Ambassador Coated is the drum head you need.

Simply the best!

In my opinion the Remo coated Ambassador is simply the best in the business, at least for my snare drums. I've experienced with a number of other heads but in the end I always go back to this. It's number one and probably will be forever!

Great Ambassador!

Experienced drummers know that the Remo Ambassador set the standard for ALL drum heads. Yes, there are many quality and specialized heads out there, including from Remo, but Ambassadors are the most versatile, resonant, and for my money durable head available.I use coated on batter side and clear for resonant side. I play a combination of rock, jazz, blues, Americana, and this is it for me. Need less resonance? Apply a little tape of moongel. Otherwise, the tuning range is outstanding and the quality unbeatable (no pun intended).Using standard Ambassadors for the resonant tom heads feels entirely natural and we used a medium tuning, getting the best balance of sustain, tone and response.Evans beat Remo to market with a 12-mil head, the G-Plus, which we loved. We're equally impressed by the Ambassador. You get the industry standard single ply head - the all-time proven all-rounder - with extra strength, durability and warmth. We've always been Ambassador fans. They sound great when they're fresh and also worn in and starting to stretch, when you get more of the 'blam' factor.

Every drummer should try one!

If you've never tried one of these drum heads, you're either very new to drumming, very snobbish, and/or you don't experiment often enough!!
Lovely crisp, traditional sound, feel, and look from the coating. It's a well made, durable single ply with a quality warm, defined sound that also allows the shell and reso of the snare drum to sing and be heard
