Shubb S1

Shubb capos are the nuts.
Throw all the rest away.
They are compact, strong, adjustable, can be used in various ways and positions so as not to obstruct your hand and the grip can be adjusted to minimise distorting the string tuning.
I have had the original S1 for 25 years or so, having used it on 6 and 12 string acoustic guitars and it is as good as the day I bought it. I am buying this second S1 because I have more than one guitar and have friends that also like to come round and jam. The S1 can also be used on 12 string acoustic guitars but the C3 12 string capo may be better suited especially if you like using them up at the 5th fret and further up the neck.
I have used the other capos on the market but they are either bulky spring type with no adjustment on the grip or strap type that like to ping off just as you go into your instrumental break.
When you use Shubb capos, you know that this is where capos end. Brilliant...

As far as I am concerned these capos are the best. Easy to use, small and compact and very well made. Lasts for YEARS!

TL
Quality but fiddly
The Laird 30.11.2021
Machined from high-grade materials, this is a quality item.
Nevertheless, it can be fiddly to fix to the guitar neck with just one hand making it a little less usable than sprung capos

Excellent, sturdy, unobstructive
MarcoDelmastro 12.02.2019
After years of cheap capos I was ready for an upgrade. Given the review, it was easy to choose the S1. I can confirm what basically everybody else is saying: it's very small and unobstructive (e.g. compared to other clip-on capos), it barely can be seen when installed. It does its job perfectly, and, despite the moving parts, it really looks sturdy (only time will say whether it really can last years, but all reviews seems to point in this directions). I read somebody complaining that it cannot be put on your headstock while not using: it's true, but that's not a con for me, I prefer to keep my accessories elsewhere, and the headstock usually hosts a clip-on tuner anyway.

Feels fancy
JoeJoe 13.03.2024
It is really nice, small and convenient. At the first glance it seems a bit shaky and fragile but I got used to it quickly. Intonation seems pretty good. The best thing is - it does not have any sharp edges or metal ends sticking around, and it feels very natural on the guitar neck, you don't even notice it.

Shubb are the best
Mombasaflash 09.10.2021
I have used a Shubb L1 Acoustic Capo Lite for God knows how many years. For the hell of it I bought one of these. It has a little wheel instead of the pointed plastic knob but is otherwise identical in operation and effectiveness. Spring loaded, 'one-hand' capos are nice but they are all so either heavy and cumbersome or large and awkward.

My Dunlop Trigger fell to the floor on the last gig and exploded into parts, causing a brief panic before the other guitarist gave me his capo, because my Shubb was buried in a case backstage. Duh!

So, why was I using the Trigger and not the Schubb? Who knows? Just for a change? Because I was feeling adventurous? Because it was a Thursday?

Also very neat with Schubb is that they are the only manufacturer to offer spare parts. Not that you will likely ever need them!

Lik e a dream

Earlier I bought a Fender capo, which spring was too hard and got my e-guitar out of tune. With this one I have no problems. It is very easy to use and small. Perfect.

Great capo
coco777 18.11.2019
I use this capo for my acoustic guitar and my banjo.
Very easy to operate and the instrument just needs a quick retuning of the strings.
I've had it for several months and it looks like it's going to last decades.

The Capo That Holds True
Playaplay 24.08.2020
This Shubb capo is so darn good, that I've never had any problems with it. When you put it on it stays on, it doesn't leave you in a position, where you put on a capo and the whole tuning sounds off. Also it looks very good and you can feel the strength and quality when you hold it in your hands.
