the box pro DSP 112

Firstly thanks to the people at Thomann for a first class customer experience, having no issues having my purchases shipped to the UK.

Now onto the speakers!! I'll just dive straight into the sound quality (that what we really want to know!).
I can only compare these speakers with what i was using for mobile djing. A set of Yamaha DXR15 (if you know these are well regarded in the dj world) .
Clarity is up there with them. My opinion is there's a little too much treble than im use to , but a quick dial back on the dsp eq by -2 fixes that for my taste.
There's also a good amount of bass for a 12" more than what i was expecting, nice a punchy. Very impressed!

Yes they get disco loud with no distortion, clipping or sound degrading.

I will say that i was a bit hesitant buying a cheaper brand at this price point, and not being able to listen to it before purchasing.
I went with the many other reviews saying the same thing.
I couldn't be more pleased with these speakers

Bottom line
For the price of these speakers they are punching well above there price point!!

Pair it with a Pyrit 212a and well....... What a system!!

I bought this speaker for many different applications (live music with mostly acoustic bands, background music but also for a little DJing...mostly it's with about 40ppl. but sometimes it's also about 80-110ppl.)
But I'm a student, and that's what my budget was like - small.
Because of the price and because I was already listening to the 15" version, and well...I as quite impressed, I decided to buy two of them.
While ordering the speaker, I was not really convinced about quality and so on...but when the speakers arrived, all those sorrows were washed away.
While testing them for the first time (hi, mid, bass all equally on 0) I noticed that they have relatively noise ground sound...but when you put music above, you won't notice ;).
The sound is just amazing; fresh highs, good mids and a fantastic bass. If you ask me, this speaker is definitely comparable to some 15" ones.

Unfortunately one of them had an issue with the stand-by mode. But after sending it to Thomann, everything was nice (so thank you, Thomann team:) )

Long story short, I'm very impressed and I recommend this to everyone who is looking for very good speaker for a very good price. Because you can easily put this speaker in any situation, and the speaker will fill your expectations.

Bought this. Intended use: a live event (a small gig in a small pub and as monitor for another bigger gig). This speaker held itself really well on stage, along with a bigger PA system I had from before (2 215 fullrange passive speakers).
The clarity is good, up to big volumes. Even when the input signal is clipping, the speaker knows what to do and handles the job well. At higher volumes I have noticed increased treble, which is a bit annoying to the ear, but with a slight EQ adjustment from the mixer or the DSP on the back of the speaker, all goes well.
I totally recommend this if you don't have a ton of money to throw at a PA system, but not only if you're on a budget. This is a great speaker for any budget.

Also, if you don't buy a B-Stock, don't forget to leave the speaker with music for a while to break it in - I seem to have forgotten this small detail, that's why I've been hearing that harsh treble back then, but now after breaking the cone in and having it play music for a while, everything sounds fine and in place!

After a couple of days of using it at home to play backing tracks while recording, I found out that the integrated DSP has some weird computing, because sometimes the sound fluctuates in volume and frequencies - for example it might cut bass once in a while. This happens after two hours of this speaker being on, so it must be something related to the heat, maybe?

Kolonėles naudoju jau antrus metus ir esu jomis laba patenkintas. Pirkdamas labai bijojau, nes nežinomas brendas, pasiklausyti taip pat kaip šios kolonėlės skamba gyvai nebuvo kur, nes mūsų šalyje nėra platintojo šio gamintojo, todėl realiai pirkau katę maiše.
Išorės surinkimo kokybė kaip ir nebloga, niekas, niekur nekliba, nebarška, tvirta, xlr jungtys geros kokybiškos, net ir po dviejų metų naudojimo ir pastovas laidų junginėjimo, jungtys neišsidėvėję ir atrodo kaip naujos. Kanalų graso valdikliai Taipéis pat geros kokybės, jokio klibėjimo neturi ir nusidėvėjimo nesijaučia. Dsp procesoriaus ir viso meniu valdymo knobas taip pat labai patogus ir informatyvus, greitai reaguojantis. Pats meniu yra labai parantas ir lengvas naudotis.
Per dviejų metų naudojimosi patirtį pastebėjau vieną silpną vietą, bloga elektros komponentų sulitavimo kokybė. Konkretus atvejis su kurios susidūriau buvo blogai sulituota aukštų dažnių stiprintuvo plata, ko pasekoje buvo dingę aukšti dažniai. Perlitavus naujai išdegusiais litavimo vietas, kolonėlė vėl veikia karp nauja.
Lengvos, kompaktiškos, patogios transportavimui, kantrus darbinis arkliukas. Garso kokybė taip pat nėra bloga, gal galėtų būti šiek tiek mažiau pink noise, bet tas gal labiau girdisi mažose patalpose, didelėse erdvėse tas dalskas taip neišryškėja. Kainos ir kokybės santykis geras.
Reziume, kas ieškote nebrangaus, patikimo ir kantraus aparato už nedidelius pinigus, verta atkreipti dėmesį į šį produktą. Nedidelė investicija kuri greitai atsiperka ir grietai pradeda uždirbinėti pinigus.

First of all i would like to thank Mr Stamatios Koutouzis for all of his instant replies to my worries regarding features ,pricing and availability, and of course Thomann cause they managed to deliver the products on time ,just a few hours before the critical PA i had to set up!
Now for the dsp112 i have to say i was quite shocked getting such clear sound and such power from a low (too low to my opinion!) cost powered speaker. the pa also was consisted from a pair of zlx15p and nevertheless the sound of the dsp112 was just fantastic. Even colleagues of mine and attenders did notice the upgraded sound which made me worry in any case why spending a lot of money in speakers when you require total portability , reliability ,power and not getting angry if someone drops the speaker stand down or starts to rain etc. (imagine having a 1000 euro speaker suffering all these...) .while not playing i had a bit of noise from the speakers but nothing important and as for the quality is actually very decent. I would sure buy it again and would like to try the dsp115. many thanks again!

I have been in this industry for getting close to 30 years now so know what I am talking about with regards to speakers. I thought I would give a pair of these a try. I have quite a few pairs of speakers but am looking to build a larger system made up of smaller cabs for flexibility. At this price point I was not expecting to be blown away. However when these cabs came and I powered them up I was pleasently surprised. I have some more 12 inch cabs by a well known brand (3 letters) everybody thinks is fantastic and I would say these are on par with those. I did have a small problem with one of the cabs which was an annoying vibrating noise at certain frequencies. I was thinking of sending it back but as they were currently out of stock I was concerned I would be left with 1 cab. Being an Electrical Engineer I decided to have a look and faound the magnet on the back of the horn was loose. 1/4 of a turn fixed it and it works perfectly now. The DSP settings are something you would expect on a higher priced cab and are very similar to another top brand whose cabs start at twice the price of these. I cannot praise these cabs enough and will be ordering some more when they are back in stock. The service from Thomann was great. They were having a few delivery issues but kept me informed all the time.

I ordered this to try to use in my home studio / rehearsal room to amplify an electronic drum kit, and whatever other instruments could be jamming at the same time (vocals, guitar via modeller, even bass...).

However, it wasn't for me - I found the sound a bit artificial, compressed, and lacking any presence or character... and is seemed not to fill the room... as if it were very directed / concentrated (which might be a benefit for some applications; but not for me).

Pros:
Not so heavy (weight) / Powerful (loud) / tweakable (dsp / eq), volume controls are notched

Cons:
Sounded compressed and uni-directional. Controls on the rear (again, might be an advantage for some users.)

In the end, I decided to return it, as I preferred the tried and trusted MA120 for my particular application...
