Yeah but no

This fret eraser was a test buy for me. I've been using Micro Mesh pads for a great shine on frets but they don't last forever and I wanted to see how the fret erasers do. That they should last a long time and give consistent results throughout their useable life seems like quite an advantage.

First off, this 100grit, does not give a mirror shine. It's roughly equivalent to 3200 grit micro mesh. That gets frets clean quickly and smooth enough to play very nicely but it's obviously not as good as finish as continuing with finer grits. If Thomann offered 2000 and 3000 grits, I'd definitely give them a try.

I think this a lot of work for the result. With 3" x 4" micro mesh pads I can work many frets at a time and the micro mesh conforms to the shape of the fret better. The fret erasers require more diligent work across the fret and while they do a great job quickly, you end up doing one fret at at time.

tl;dr I'm a little disappointed and finer grits are definitely required.

It works and works quickly!
Shinigamy91 28.05.2018
Well, there's not much to say about this. It just works. And works really quickly.

I spent half a minute of polishing per fret, and they're shinier and smoother than ever before. I wanted to buy steel wool, but gave a try at these and I will use this until I burn them completely.

Look no further, myself as a sceptic got convinced really easily with this rubber. (I never knew there was a rubber that can polish frets so easily, you learn something everyday).

Best buy, won't look further for anything else, this is something I'll use until discontinued or upgraded for the same price.

I didnt expect that
Adrian0072 20.08.2020
I recently bought a Squier Bullet Mustang that must have been dragged through the desert because the frets were disgusting rough and grated on the strings when I tried to bend notes. I gave these rubbers a shot, and wow did they make a difference! Theyre now smooth as can be after about 30 mins of polishing. The best part is the metal that is scratched off forms into eraser dust (like with a pencil eraser) so I didnt even have to tape up my pickups. AND it comes in a pack of two!

Comfy and efficient for fret polishing.
fommof 27.11.2019
If you've spent years and years polishing frets usinf steel wool #0000 and making a mess every single time, then you should really give this polishing rubber a go.

Equaly efficient with almost no mess at all and in my case, I don't need to mask my whole instruments before I start the procedure.

Great polishing rubbers
Rui Nunes 09.11.2020
These polishing rubbers are great to remove some fret leveling file marks, but if you want a more mirror-like polishing finish, you'll need a finer rubber (around 3000-5000 grit). They are a good starting point to get there, as the finer grid rubbers/sandpapers will not remove hard marks.

Not really sure about this one
Palladio 03.11.2022
I know what it's supposed to do, but I have the impression it's not doing any great deal on my frets. Might be due to my limited guitar tech experience though. So not sure about this tool.

Well worth it
Strings in the snow 18.03.2021
I bought a Squier Bullet Mustang from a local music shop a little while ago, and – as tends to be the case with budget guitars – the frets needed some work to bring them up to snuff.

These rubbers made it a pretty painless job: they took off 99% of the gunk and tarnish on the frets (turning them into the equivalent of eraser dust that could just be wiped away) and a small bit of abrasive paper took care of the more stubborn bits. It's definitely a more convenient option than using steel wool.

The frets are nice and shiny now, the strings bend as smoothly as spreading butter, and what started as a good budget guitar is now a great one.

Didn't know I needed these.

I should have bought these years ago. I cannot believe how great the fretboard looks and feels after using one these on the frets. Highly recommend!
