The only reason I can think so many people like it is because of the power
Adny 19.01.2020
Has introduced humming and buzzing and random pops into my monitoring system, even with fully shielded and balanced connections. Not good.

The crossover is apalling. It's not a crossover, it's just a low-pass filter. If you pass your monitors through it you'll lose everything under about 180Hz in them, regardless of where the crossover is set and you have no option to change it. So then the only option you're left with to recover those lost frequencies is to have them through the sub. My speakers sound fine down to around 80Hz and are very very good, so now I have to sacrifice most of the bottom end in order to get the lows I was initially after. And the 80 - 180 Hz range on it is just too much.

You either have to..

a) Run your own crossover system
b) have a dedicaeted sub output
c) Run the sub at 180-200 hz and compromise your monitors and deal with the stupidly agressive volume

The volume knob is completely useless, it's like the stereotypical hot and cold shower controls, 1mm to the left and you get nothing, 1mm to the right and it's drowned everything else out, then doesn't appear to do much for the rest of the 300 degrees.

If your monitors have a low frequency cut off oif their own then you MIGHT be able to get away running them straight through, daisy chainging through the inputs and effectively running the system in paralel rather than series, but this is far too agressive to be useful to most setups.

Don't waste your money, go for something with less grunt and more control. The features and performance of this product lead me to think it's more suitable to home theaters than in a studio, and should not be advertised as such.

T
Very decent for the price
Tavi94 03.04.2019
I have been using this sub with a pair of JBL LSR305p and overall I was very pleased with it for the price.

Here are my thoughts:
PROs:
- Extends down enough to make music a lot more enjoyable.
- Has plenty of power to work with
- Fair accuracy for the price
- For the price, you can't get a better sub in terms of power/ frequency extension

CONs:
- Very big and extremely heavy, it really is a huge monster make no mistake
- Crossover knob is cool but it doesn't cut the freq just right, you will hear the crossover struggling for sure
- Unbalanced inputs would have been something really useful, one of the TRS inputs on the back was loose, but still worked with a bit of fiddling
- Big sound pop when the sub comes ON
- Gets pretty hot after few hours of listening

Overall I'm fairly pleased with this sub. I wish they would make a 2nd version of this, fixing the minor problems and keeping it on the budget side.

LS
Unfortunately not very good
Leader Sound Productions 23.01.2021
I bought this sub recently but I am sorry to say that I am about to return it.
Sub produces what sounds like a continuous 60hz mains hum which is prevalent and audible. This happens from when the unit is turned on, with nothing plugged into, and/or connected to speakers. This renders the unit unusable for most studio applications as you will hear the hum clearly when there is silence. Also I found the sound, even at low levels, to be a little fuzzy/distorted. The unit is otherwise sturdy and well built, There is a LOT of power in this sub, and if you are buying it for home stereo use it might be ok for your needs but I could not recommend this particular unit for mixing/mastering as the hum will drive you nuts and there is no cross-over as such, but rather a low-pass filter. I have instead opted for the Prodipe Pro 10s at 100euro more, so I will see how that one fares out.

C
I'm satisfied!
Chuchers 05.05.2017
After week of using this sub, I'm pretty satisfied!
This thing has huge amount of power, although you will probably not use quarter of it (in order to match the levels to my Yamaha HS50m, I'm having this thing at about 15%, with crossover at about 60hz).

Bass response is very quick and price, no rumbling (when level-matched), this sub generates very deep but precise sound.

I was pretty stoked about the finish of this thing - I was expecting some cheap abs, while this thing is build exactly as good as Yamaha's HS series.

The 'power saving' function is indeed poorly designed - there are some audible clicks in your main monitors when 'waking up' the sub, however I find this really not very annoying.

If you want to actually know what is happening with your mix in the low freq, this is the best solution for the money.

I think thomann and their swissonic brand did great job with this product. Totally recommend it.

A great journey with an unfortunate end...
Tim2787 01.10.2020
I'll keep it as brief as I can;

The I/O and controls leave nothing to be desired in 90% of cases.

The build is solid and there is no hum/rattle/port 'chuffing' on my unit, all of which can be relatively common issues on entry-level subs.

The sub can move enough air to fill a large room with sound of great quality for the price.

Overall - of course there will be better subs out there, but I genuinely doubt you'll find many - if any - at this price.

The reason for the 3 star quality rating, you ask?
It died.

It gave me four good years but eventually decided it didn't want to make sound any longer. It would come out of standy when given a signal but the driver would not move. Sad times indeed, but I feel I got my value from it all the same, and would still recommend the unit to anybody looking for an entry-level sub capable of relieving your smaller monitors of their low-end duties while gaining an octave or so.

M
Outstanding, if you avoid the inbuilt crossover.
MaxMeck 20.03.2019
For the price, this is a fantastic sub, but the inbuilt (DSP?) crossover is not; it sounds very "digital"; compressed and metallic. I guess it would be fine for PA, but not for music. Also the included instruction manual is pretty-much useless.
HOWEVER I use this sub to add some serious bass to a pair of active studio monitors (Yamaha). They have their own crossover, so the Sub 10's crossover isn't needed. It transpires that the input sockets to the sub (XLR and TRS) are actually just connected together, so you can feed the audio into one, and use the other to loop out to feed the active monitors, thereby bypassing the internal electronics completely - the auto-sensing switch-on still works fine when used like this.
This sub is then really outstanding, with exceptional downwards extension, very clean, with a lot of undistorted weight.
The reflex port is front-facing, so the sub can be positioned close to a wall or corner.
There is some audible ringing from the perforated metal grille covering the drive unit when the unit is pushed hard - but the grille is easily removed, and you have to listen very hard to hear the problem, anyway.
So, if you bypass the internal crossover, and remove the metal grille (both really easy to do) then this sub performs as well as units costing five times more. Strongly recommended!

M
A good buy for continuous usage
Marcxstation 10.12.2019
I really loved the sound quality. It worked really good with my Yamaha HS5 with proper adjustment. The responses were really good. Both XLR and TRS inputs make it accessible to more input options. Everything on the description works.

The only trouble I faced was, once it was left idle, it goes to offline mode. Especially happens when I come back to work from breaks. When I play something, it really turns online with a peaking noise which is really bad for my Monitors and also sometimes for my heart. I couldn't find a way to stop that from happening except for running it all the time. But this feature was really and only annoying whenever I came back to work with it after long breaks.

Other than that, it was a good buy. I was really happy.

My first studio subwoofer, and I was blown away!
Simon889 28.11.2018
I bought them and the delivery was really quick!
I use them with my Jbl 305's,because I just needed that low end bottom.

I was blown away by how these perform.

The look is cool, the feel and the touch of the subwoofer are cool.
Especially the front port, it's definitely killing it!

I use it at 15-25% and it is already giving me enough low-end! and I could go louder but it wouldn't be a good idea for your neighbours :) (I think if you are going to have a small room, 15 % will be enough, but maybe when you get a bigger room in the future,it would be better.

but definitely recommend it! if you looking for the cheapest and most useful studio subwoofer, THIS IS IT!

VERY FLAT AND RESPONSIVE, WORKS THE 30HZ

U
Fantastic for its price point.
UkWarrior 16.07.2022
I bought this for my studio, as my monitors were lacking low end for when I mix down.

I qualified at the British academy of new music in 2009 as a sound engineer, and also produced music on this course alongside, and was wary due to the low price.

When it turned up, I was pleasantly surprised. The sound quality is fine for something in this price range, even a couple of hundred above for replicating frequencies in this range.

I saw few posts mentioning the crossover being "just a low pass filter"- this IS a type of crossover, so does exactly what it is meant to.

Somehow, it has actually reduced the noise my monitors produce when powered on as well, it used to be a loud click, now it is quiet.

This is indeed a very powerful, and loud, subwoofer if you want it to be that, or you can set it at an ideal reference level.
I have put two stickers on the rear volume dial, one for reference, and one for my own "party mode" which is louder, but still not even halfway up in a fairly large room.

There is a huge amount of excursion on this subwoofer, another thing that surprised me in this price range. It has never soft bottomed on me.

The only reason I didn't give 5 stars for features is the lack of a foot switch.

If you wish to add a sub to your studio, or are using some cheaper monitors and also want a sub to just listen to music, I couldn't recommend anything more than this product.
