The ones who work with lots of distorsions and high gain pre-amplifiers, knows the worry of the background noises rising naturally at an adequately gain, sustain and overtones. The sounds are full with unwanted noise.

The MXR SmartGate manages to offer comfortable and effectively "remedy". Three levels of noise reduction are available: Hiss, Mid and Full; so that the problems can be taken in a grip. The MXR typical stable housing has become the norm for all effect device manufacturers a long time ago.

Quello che cercavo

L'ultimo pedale che mi serviva per completare la mia pedalboard... ma uno dei primi che avrei fatto bene ad acquistare sin da subito. Pulisce molto bene il segnale (ad esempio dalle odiosissime interferenze della CPU dei computer) ed evita indesiderati feedbacks che costringono a tenere una bassa distorsione. Per queste due ragioni lo tengo acceso praticamente sempre, sia nei live che in registrazione, sia con suoni puliti che high gain.

Lo posiziono a monte della catena, subito dopo il Wah, usando questi settings:
MID: FULL
HI Trigger: disabilitato
Trigger Level: Ore 3

It's what it is, a Noise Gate. It has a lot of options such as letting you choose what kind of noise to gate (hum hiss or everything) and also offers a "high trigger range". Honestly this gate it's not bad. It's indeed smart, he senses when your signal should start to be gated and it's always smooth.
One thing i don't like though are the various switches. How can I say, I find them pretty useless. I want a gate to silence my rig, not just remove the hiss and leave some of the noise there, so this renders that switch useless. The high trigger range really degrades your tone so I always use it on normal range. If you turn the knob all the way up it will munch away some of your top end, but that's understandable and pretty common on noise gates.
I guess that for this price it's one of the best gates out there.

This is a useful noise gate for the guitarist with noise in their signal chain. I use it at the end of my perl board, effectively killing the signal when my guitar is silent.

It has some useful features.
The options of Hiss, Mid and Full means that you can decide which type of noise you want to eliminate.

There are cheaper noise gates on the market but this one certainly performs well.
