5. Stronger together: combinations of different cabinets
Of course, you can combine differently configured bass cabinets to compensate for the weaknesses of one cabinet with the strengths of another. Popular combinations you'll often see used on stages are, for example:
- two 4x10 cabinets
- 4x10 and 1x15
- 2x10 and 1x15
If you've read the section above attentively, you'll have a good idea why cabinets are put together in these combinations: if you operate two small, agile speakers and at least one strong bass speaker together, the result is a very well-balanced sound which lets all frequency ranges shine - both the bass player and their band will be happier for it!
