Thon Studio Rack 30U 38

I bought this rack to fill it up with lots of studio equipments, unfortunately the screws included are quite not enough for my use-case because I really fill it up with a lot of hardware, but for most scenario I think it will be just enough. The second con that I noticed is that the mounting system for this rack is not the standard one in which the side rails doesn't have pre-punctured holes just like any other rack, it uses a different system, so you need to adjust with it when mounting different sizes of rack equipments. I wish they would just be the standard side rails with holes instead of using this kind of system, it would have been easy to do that and more secure. But for the price it's okay and the quality is well built.

What can you expect for this little money? Not much, right. Its just fine for in the studio. Doesnt look classy at all, I would NEVER put this in a truck for a live show, but it holds al my 19" gear and its stable enough. If you are pulling it around al the time you notice its a little bit wobbly, but if you dont, and I suggest you dont, nothing wrong with it. Packaging is a big big downside. They deliver it, a big empty box, with another even bigger (carton) box around it and nothing inside, resulting in a shitty day for the deliveryguy, and a shitty day for me because 1. I have to carry it upstairs and 2. I have to somehow get rid of a shitton worth of carton. But once you managed that, its all fine.

Es gibt die Muttern zum Geräteeinschrauben bei 19"-Racks oder -Cases betreffend zwei Varianten: Einmal eine Variante, bei denen 6-Kant Muttern auf einer Gummibahn von alleine die Höhe halten, an die man sie geschoben hat. Und dann die Variante, bei der 4-Kant Muttern völlig frei beweglich in ihrer Schiene liegen. Das bedeutet, dass auch alle Muttern nach unten fallen, wenn man das Rack aufstellt.
Jetzt ist das in Ordnung, wenn man das bei einem 4HE-Amprack etc. so löst. Dass man auf die Idee kommt, bei einem 30HE-Studiorack solche freien Muttern zu verbauen, verdient absoluten Respekt! Es ist quasi nicht möglich mal im aufgestellten Zustand ein Gerät aus dem Rack zu tauschen, eines hinzuzufügen etc., da ja eben die Muttern nicht dort halten, wo man das Gerät gerne platzieren möchte. Sie fallen eben nach unten und unter Umständen sogar hinter das darunter platzierte Gerät. Man MUSS das Rack also umlegen, was gleichbedeutend mit dem Abkabeln aller im Rack befindlichen Geräte ist. Einfach wunderbar!

Ich habe beim Kauf nicht drauf geachtet, welche Muttern-Variante gewählt wurde - schlicht und ergreifend deswegen, weil ich es niemals für möglich gehalten hätte, dass man ein Rack so praxisfremd konstruiert.
Zu Hause steht man dann da und kann sich entscheiden, ob man mit dem Mist lebt oder ob man halt wieder zurück nach Treppendorf fährt - ich wohne nicht gerade um die Ecke.

Ich könnte mir heute noch in den Hintern beißen und möchte wenigstens andere Käufer vor diesem Schicksal bewahren: Kauft bei größeren Racks ausschließlich Varianten mit rutschfesten Muttern! Ein Hoch auf die Konstrukteure!
