SKB 62 Jag/Jazz

Omdat ik al eerder een bestelling had gedaan bij Thomann durfde ik het wel aan om weer een artikel te kopen. Ditmaal een Hardshell Case voor mijn Fender Jazzmaster. Kwam zonder problemen bij me aan. Was prima verpakt zodat er van schade geen sprake kon zijn. Kan niet anders zeggen dan dat ik ook nu weer voor de volle 100% content ben.

Genoemde Hardshell Case beantwoorde dan ook precies aan mijn wensen. Blij met deze aankoop omdat hij mijn dierbare Fender, welke ik koester, die bescherming geeft die deze gitaar verdiend...
De gitaar zit helemaal opgesloten en ligt zo vast als een huis. De case op zichzelf was netjes en de afwerking was perfect.
Ben er van overtuigd hier nog heel wat jaartjes mee op pad te kunnen als we een optreden hebben.

If I had to describe this case in one word, that word would be “flimsy”. The plastic outer shell is so weak that I was able to press it in with one finger. I cannot imagine the guitar surviving the impact of somebody sitting on the top of this case. Also, the cushioning foam appears to not be attached all that well to the shell of the case. It was already separating from it near the edges. Worst of all, the lid has to be manipulated in order to be closed, for the two aluminum valances do not fit together very well. Not much more expensive Hiscox cases are vastly superior in terms of quality and rigidity. The only good things I can say about this SKB one are that the plush-lined interior is very pleasant to the touch, that it fits the guitar like a glove, that the large inner compartments are great for storing cables and other items, and that the handle is comfortable to hold. You would probably get similar level of protection by using one of Mono soft cases, but at half the weight.

It's a decent case for the Jazzmaster. The fit is really good and seems that the guitar is resting comfortably in the case.

What I don't like is the compartment. I really wished it had covers for the compartments, Things fall out easily, or worse, the smallest accessories shift during transport. This might by accident scrape the guitar in the long run.

The handle and hinges are great! Really sturdy and solid. The shell seems really solid also. I've flown with this guitar all around the world for the last six months and no brakes.

It seems though that it does not close 100%. There's a small gap near the headstock where the aluminum rails don't come together. The case arrived like this. The gap has not opened more during transport, but I always tape it down during long filghts.
