Fantastische kabel - minder makkelijk mee te werken.

De kabel is van fantastische kwaliteit. De kernen zijn mooi dik, alle omhullingen ook. De buitenste laag voelt fijn in de hand en is erg stijf, maar niet onoprolbaar. Hij zal niet snel in de knoop raken!

De buitenkant is echter zo dik dat hij niet gemakkelijk door de trekontlasting van de (standaard) Neutrik XLR XX-serie connectoren past. Ik heb de omhulling met een mesje wat verdund. Iets om rekening mee te houden. Ook is de kabel zo zwaar en dik dat het niet heel gemakkelijk is om hem te solderen. Helemaal niet onmogelijk, maar niet heel gemakkelijk.

Pluspunten:
1) Dikke kernen;
2) Solide omhulling;
3) Voelt lekker in de hand;

Minpunten:
1) Soms (te) dikke omhulling;
2) Misschien lastig te solderen;
3) Zwaar, soms onhandig.

Ik gebruik dit type kabel al meer dan 10 jaar op live optredens en heb nog geen enkel defect of klacht gehad. Ze rollen perfect op en de rubber blijft perfect. Lange kabels van 25 meter en meer geven absoluut geen enkele ruis of kraks. De beste keuze voor micro, instrumenten en pa.

Great mic cable

This is a really great mic cable and it's really flexible. The "SW" version has no separator between the two counterspiraling winds of shielding, which should be the normal choice for most people. The other version has a separator between the two spirals so you can either solder them both to pin1 normally or solder one shield to pin1 and the other to the plug casing for an independent chassis ground - this can be useful if you have the option to lift the ground from all of the equipment you're using, but will generally cause more problems than it fixes in ordinary use, and is usually unnecessary unless you have an explicit noise problem.

Very good quality cable

I bought this cable as I was after the best quality cable I could find without spending ridiculous money. I buy into the opinion that once you reach a certain quality then you don't get anything substantial for extra outlay when it comes to cable.

I've always liked Sommer cable and it seems to be one of the better options you can get in Europe. It's well constructed, easy enough to work with and well insulated with double screening. I use the leads I made on sound for location video shoots and it holds up to all the trials that that can bring.

My only gripe is that the cable doesn't feel that flexible which means I have to could it with a large diameter - not a problem for me but could frustrate some folks.
