Very good pick-up for acoustic
I play mostly acoustic percussive guitar, so I was looking for a good quality pick-up able to grab the percussions.
It does its job wonderfully. The sound from the strings is pristine. My guitar has a lot of natural sustain and I tend ot play a lot with it, the pick-up translates that sustain extremely well I was really surprised.
About the percussions on the body: it does a very acceptable job, good enough for recording. I would advise getting a compressor with fast attack and fast release to tame the transient from some percussive hits (one that I use a lot, with the thumb just above the sound hole isn't really usable as-is with this pick-up which grabs the sound way too much. But it's normal given how it is made). If you don't play percussive guitar, I think the only drawback may be the price.
Quite easy to install as well. Still go to a luthier if you don't have the tools to open that hole for the jack though, I didn't and even though I did manage something clean I did sweat a bit.
I removed a star from handling since when the pick-up came in, the battery installed was empty (the switch came on the active position). It doesn't bother me as I use the pick-up system passively anyways. Also, there was a second battery in the packaging, so not that big of a deal anyways.

M80 is amazing
I just bought an L.R Baggs M80 pickup and I'm really pleased with the product. Really easy to fit into the guitar, it has a nice look and lovely finishing but most importantly an incredible sound quality for a pickup.
I fitted it onto my Martin OM28 acoustic guitar and done several recording tests with it. the range of sound it registers is very impressive and not far from what I used to get recording directly from an condenser microphone.
I only wish they designed it so the battery was accessible for changing without having to take the strings out, same for the active/passive switch... but otherwise is perfect :)

Do not buy before reading this message.
I am extremely disappointed. This is the second chance I gave to LR Baggs and definitely their products are not for my style.
I don't want to say that they are not good, but do take care before buying.
My main problems:
1. If you are used to an under saddle pick-up system you will realize a huge difference in sound. For my taste a difference that I didn't like at all.
2. If you play in a rock band (as I do) and your rock band plays in small stages with a lot of noise this pick-up is not for you. It is impossible to have the guitar loud enough without getting humming/feedback noise.
Summary: I installed a Fishman .

Excellent sound!
The only real issue with this was when fitting it to a Taylor mini where the strap button at the end had to be replaced by the smaller Baggs fitting leaving a large unfinished wood edging. It would have been nice to have a selection of washers that could have acted as finishing pieces to maintain the high quality theme of guitar and pick up.

not as good as the cheaper option
i have been using the older version of this for years , and was very happy with it ,,, bought this new one for my second acoustic . thinking it would be an improvement ,,, but i really didnt like it ... it's still much better than any Piezo pickup , but there is a "darkness" to it that i don't like . i tried changing pole piece heights but it didnt really improve for me .. maybe the 3d sensor thing is adding this tone ? not sure ... I would buy the older version again in the future m but not this one sadly

Easy sound improvement
I have played around with many pickups over the years in various acoustics but the addition of this to my guitars has seen such a massive improvement in flexibility and stunning sound.

Best for me
Its sound is quite good on a proper amp. The active/passive switch is very unconvenient to reach and switch, at least for me. The reversible installation needs a bit practice and skillfulness when the strings are on, it takes about a minute. It is much more feedback resistant than a condenser mic, but THERE IS feedback (if you are beside a 40w Roland cube in a medium room the feedback starts at half volume in active mode, at lower gis). Considering everithing, it was the best choice, i am satisfied.

Best sound for ac guitar!
Very nice and warm sound. I tried it already on 2 different guitars and it took the best out of them.
