v
excellent solution for amplified violin
velvetbreeze 16.01.2020
This is such a great product! The produced sound is very similar to acoustic violin, it doesn't sound metallic or too rough like it happens with bridge pickup systems.

I mainly use it with a Behringer Xenyx mixer and I have to turn up the gain really high, almost 100% to get a full sound, but when you get it right, add some sweet reverb, it sounds really good. It would definitely benefit from a preamp pedal, but if the preamps and EQ on your mixer are good, then you can surely shape the sound really well without anything extra.

Putting it on the violin is not particularly difficult, but you have to make sure it's tight in order to get a consistent clear sound without buzzing. The glue that holds the velcro has lost it's strength on one edge but it's nothing major or unfixable.

I play at least 3 times a weak ,bars Céilidhs weddings ect after my fave transducer died a year ago I made the big mistake of getting a fish-man copper plate transducer that was a complete waste of money and so I did my research their is a good youtube clip of the battlefield band where they have to fiddle players one has the headway band the other has some kind of transducer that is what clinched it for me.OK a mic gives you a far truer sound and if you are going to play to silent audiences with other acoustic instruments and not do your own sound then go ahead. If on the other hand you play a large range of venues and often have to sound check under time pressure ect then I think you will for the price be hard pushed to find anything better than this.

For us better than the fishman
Kirschner 08.02.2016
For us it is better than the Fishman Piezos, less harsh, less boxy. And for us, much better than a 2 times more expensive DPA as it is a pickup, not a microphone, so no any ambience comes throughout.

In these circumstances with this device You can make a superloud well-soundig violin on the stage and the and to the public too.

The sound is very far from a well mic-ed studio sound, but not bad. Much better than the fishermans I know.
