There are 2 types of music stands: sturdy or foldable. This one is both. I have investigated pretty much every stand out there - this is it. A bit stiff to fold/unfold when new, but that's a good thing actually, it's going to loosen up in time, but won't become rickety like cheaper, lighter stands.

Really impressed with the quality of this music stand. I had a mediocre stand that didn't stay up well in windy weather so wanted something a little more robust, but also easy to carry.
