ESP LTD M-Black Metal Black Satin

This guitar is exactly what you expect from a metal guitar - it is simple, aggressive and robust.

Pros:
- good quality build
- good Floyd Rose – holds the tuning
- good aggressive pickup
- the black satin paint looks stunning
- quiet enough
- nice shine-in-the-dark dots

Cons:
- the volume knob is like a switch on/off. You can’t really use it to gradually turn the volume on or off. Going from 100% to 50% almost makes no difference and around 25% it just turns off. Not a volume knob but a switch.
- my volume knob is a bit tilted (not a biggie)
- the paint is more sensitive than the usual high gloss paint – I already scratched mine around the guitar input.

I have made a few improvements:
- shielded all cavities with Goldo EL900 profi shield screen – now is dead quiet
- changed the volume potentiometer with a Seymour Duncan pot (seems better than the original pot)
- solved the on/off volume by soldering a Goldo capacitor 220pF (now the volume is usable)
- changed the springs system with Schaller Sure Claw – now I don’t need a screwdriver to adjust the springs – this is quite helpful if you try different tunings and different string gauges (now I am in drop A# with 62, 42, 30, 20, 14, 11 string gauges).
- changed the original strap button with a Schaller S-locks bc.

The guitar is really nice with the original items (except for the volume pot without the capacitor) but the mods described above made it even better (for my taste) at a not so high cost (729 + 100 eur)

L'achat d'une LTD c'est toujours satisfaisant ....
En effet jamais de surprise, la qualité est toujours au rendez vous par rapport au prix proposé.
Cette guitare simplissime dans son utilisation donne entière satisfaction
utilisée en répète, a la maison et en concert, pas besoin de s'encombrer d'une pile (le micro passif fait amplement le taf et est bien plus évident à sonoriser que les traditionnels EMG 81, 85, etc ... et nettement plus précis, il faut le préciser) le floyd (un vrai) est précis une fois réglé .... (oui l'accordage d'usine, on repassera)
le manche est une véritable autoroute, visible dans le noir (points lumineux sur la tranche), la bête est légère et maniable, avec un confort de jeu un un accès aux aigus satisfaisant.
Seul bémol niveau finition/lutherie : au dos sur la tranche la peinture laisse légèrement apparaitre le bois par transparence (sur 2 mm) rien de grave ...

Pour conclure : une pelle ultra simple sans 50 boutons ou micros ou gadgets inutiles, une guitare qui devrai servir d'exemple aux autres fabricants. utilisée avec Guitar Rig et un Laboga Mr hector, elle ne m'a pas déçu avec un son modelable facilement et "pédale friendly"

Mon regret : le coloris Neon green serait le bienvenu ! (pardonnez je suis un thrasheur de base)

Bin ein Fan der zweiten Welle und diese Gitarre hier hat genau das Erfüllt was ich Erwartet hatte. Verarbeitung und Optik ist für diesen Preis denk ich mehr als zufriedenstellend. Dazu fühlt sich einfach geil an auf diesem schönen, schwarzen Biest zu spielen. Vor allem in Begleitung zu diversen Klassikern. Sound ist der Hammer und es klingt genau so wie es klingen soll: Trve!

Macht auch im Home-Recording eine tolle Figur :)
